lease certain auriferous Crown Lands not exceeding ten acres in the whole of alluvial ground, and to grant sites for machinery, and any necessary easements for the purposes aforesaid, subject nevertheless to the conditions or provisions in the said section contained.
And whereas His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, did on the eighth day of July, 1868, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony, delegate to me, the Honourable James Alexander Bonar, a Member of the Legislative Council of the Colony of New Zealand, by virtue of the powers in that behalf delegated to me under "The Gold Fields Act, 1866": Now, therefore, I, James Alexander Bonar, a Member of the Legislative Council of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers vested in me in that behalf, do hereby give notice that on the 10th day of November, 1868, I intend to demise to the persons named in the Schedule hereto annexed certain auriferous Crown Lands of alluvial ground for the terms specified in the said Schedule.

Hokitika, 30th October, 1868.
UNDER the provisions of Clause XII, of "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," I hereby grant to David Evans and party, a special claim of three acres, situated at Little Ballarat Hill, in the Waimea District, subject to the following conditions:—

That on completion of applicants’ race, thirteen men be kept constantly employed on the claim.

That in the meantime the number of men to be employed to be left to the discretion of the Warden.

THE Chairman of the County Council directs it to be notified that JOHN RANDAL CAREY, ESQ., has resigned his seat for the District of the Town of Hokitika in the Westland County Council.

I, James Alexander Bonar, Member of the Legislative Council of the Colony of New Zealand, by virtue of the powers in that behalf delegated to me under "The Gold Fields Act, 1868," by His Excellency the Governor, do hereby authorise the occupation for one year from the 14th day of October, 1868, of the site upon which the track known as Card’s Track is constructed, being a strip of land fifteen feet broad and about 13 miles in length, commencing at Card’s Lower Store on the New River and running in an easterly direction for about 13 miles, to Messrs. Card’s Upper Store, on Liverpool Bill’s Gully; and I hereby authorise the collection of the tolls mentioned in the Schedule hereto annexed for the period of one year from the 14th day of October, 1868, provided that

The track be cut sufficiently high on the beaches of the river to let people walk up or down with safety during floods.

The track be kept in reasonable repair to the satisfaction of the County Engineer, all soft places being corduroyed and gravelled where gravel is obtainable.

Peaceable possession of the track to be given up to the Government or Grey Road Board on an infringement of either of the above conditions.
