THE Chairman of the County Council directs it to be notified that the next Sitting of the County Council is further prorogued from Tuesday, the 3rd November, 1868, until Wednesday, the 11th November, 1868, on which day the Council will meet for the dispatch of business in the Supreme Court House, Hokitika, at the hour of 12 o’clock noon.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint
WILLIAM PATRICK CRAWFORD, Esq.,
to be Registrar of Joint Stock Companies for the County of Westland.

WHEREAS, by an Order in Council, bearing date the eighth day of July, 1868, all the powers which, before the coming into operation of the “County of Westland Act, 1867,” were by law vested in the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, and exercisable within the District comprised in the said County of Westland, were by His Excellency the Governor delegated to me, the Honourable James Alexander Bonar.
Now, therefore, I, James Alexander Bonar, a Member of the Legislative Council of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers vested in me in that behalf, do hereby declare that the footpaths hereinafter described, having been well and sufficiently made and completed for the use and accommodation of foot-passengers according to the provisions of the “Footpaths Ordinance, Session VII., No. 12,” are public footpaths within the meaning of the said Ordinance.
The said footpaths are as follows:—
Extending along both sides of Revell Street from Gibson’s Quay to Park Street.
Extending along both sides of Wharf Street from Gibson’s Quay to Camp Street.
Extending along both sides of Camp Street from Revell Street to Tancrèd Street.
Extending along the north side of Gibson’s Quay from Wharf Street to Sewell Street.
Extending along both sides of FitzHerbert Street from Gibson’s Quay to Weld Street.
Extending along both sides of Weld Street from Revell Street to FitzHerbert Street.
Given under my hand at Hokitika this 23rd day of October, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

of Waima, Miner, has been duly elected to serve as a Member of the Arahura Road Board in the room of Mr. William McLean, resigned.
