WELLINGTON HIGHWAYS DISTRICT BOUNDARIES
Ward No. 4.
The boundary commences at Taourakira Head, in Cook’s Strait; thence it proceeds Northerly along the Eastern boundary of the Wellington Highways District until it intersects an East line magnetic from the South-east corner of James Corrie’s selection of 120 acres, Hutt District; from this point of intersection the boundary turns West in a straight line to the South-east corner of said selection of James Corrie’s, and thence continues in a straight line to the South-east corner of section No. 232; thence it continues along the Southern boundaries of sections Nos. 232, 231, and 230 to the North-east corner of section No. 42; thence it turns Southerly along the South-eastern boundary of said section No. 42 to its South-east corner; and from thence it continues Southerly, including within its limits sections Nos. 21 and 16, Lowry Bay District, Nos. 20 and 21, Harbor District, and from the point in Port Nicholson Harbor where the Northern boundary line of section No. 20, Harbor District, strikes the shore, it continues Southerly along the shores of Port Nicholson Harbor and Cook’s Strait to the starting point.
Ward No. 5.
The boundary commences at a point in Port Nicholson Harbor, where the Northern boundary line of section No. 20, Harbor District, strikes the shore; thence it proceeds Northerly, including within its limits sections Nos. 77, 76, 240, 239, 238, 19, 23, 27, 225, 41, 42, 230, 231, 232, 229, 228, 62, 63, 64, and 199, Hutt District, and from the point on the left bank of the Hutt River where the North-eastern boundary line of said section No. 199 strikes it, it turns Southerly along the bank of the River Hutt to the starting point.
Ward No. 6.
The boundary commences at a point on the left bank of the River Hutt, where a production of the South-west boundary line of section No. 65, Hutt District, strikes it; thence it proceeds Easterly, including within its limits sections Nos. 67, 69, 71, 73, 74, and 233; from the South-west corner of the said section No. 233 it continues in a straight line to the South-east corner of section No. 232; and from thence it continues Easterly along the boundaries of Ward No. 4 to the East boundary of the Wellington Highways District; thence it turns Northerly along the said Eastern boundary of the Wellington Highways District, and along its Northern boundary till it meets a North line magnetic from the source of the River Hutt; thence it turns South magnetic to the source of the River Hutt, and so proceeds along its left bank to the starting point.
FEATHERSTON LOCAL BOARD DISTRICT
PROCLAMATION
By His Honor William Fitzherbert, Esquire, C.M.G., Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS by an Act of the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington, Session XXIV., No. 5, intituled “The Local Boards Act, 1873,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the inhabitants of any locality in the Province of Wellington, exclusive of the inhabitants of the towns of Wellington and Wanganui, to apply by petition to the Superintendent of the Province, praying that in such locality a Board of Commissioners may be appointed, with the several powers and authorities given by the said Act; and that on receipt of any such petition, the Superintendent of the said Province may issue a Proclamation declaring that the provisions of the said Act shall come into force within such locality, and that such locality shall thereafter be termed a district: And whereas a petition has been received by me from the inhabitants of the locality, the boundaries whereof are described in the Schedule hereto, signed by the required number of inhabitants, praying that the land contained within the boundaries described in the said Schedule may be constituted a district under the said Act:
Now, therefore, I, William Fitzherbert, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, do hereby proclaim and declare that the block of land described in the Schedule hereto, shall be, and the same is hereby constituted a district under the said Act, and that the said district shall be called and known as “The Featherston Local Board District;” and that the provisions of the said Act shall come into force within the said Featherston District from and after this date.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, this tenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.
