seventy-four, and the nineteenth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four. And I do declare that the land described in the Schedule of the said several proclamations, excepting only two several pieces of Crown land described in the Schedule hereto, and delineated on the plans in the margin hereof, which shall still remain withdrawn from sale, shall be open for application or sale under the Land Regulations of the Province of Wellington, on and after the second day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.
Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, this seventeenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

SCHEDULE.
All that parcel of land known as the Manawatu Block, in the Wairarapa District, the boundaries of which commence at Tirchanga; thence to Kopuapiranga; thence to Mungapungapunga; thence to Ahiaruhe; thence to Kiniikitaki and on to Komikotahi; thence on to Tihiwaahi; thence to Te Wakararongo, thence to Tiketahua; thence to Makakahi and up to its source; and on to Tararua on to the source of the Ohau; thence to the source of the Ruamahanga to Ohangai, as the same is described in the Deed of Sale of the Manawatu Block, dated 10th December, 1853. Also all that other parcel of land, the boundaries of which commence at a point in the Hutt District, where the main line of road from Wellington to Masterton crosses Stoke’s Valley; thence along the said main line of road to the saddle of the Remutaka range; thence North-easterly along the said range till it intersects the northern boundary of the Wainui and Waikanae Blocks; thence westerly along the said northern boundary and continued along the other boundaries of the said blocks till it intersects a line bearing north magnetic from the starting point; thence south along the said line to the starting point.
PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor William Fitzherbert, Esquire, C.M.G., Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS by clause 84 of the Act of the Provincial Council shortly intituled “The Highways Act, 1874,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to proclaim the following clause to be in force in any Highway District on receiving an application from the Board of Wardens of a Highway District, viz.:
“Whenever it shall appear to the satisfaction of any Highway Board that the weight carried on vehicles having the breadth of their wheels of less than five inches requires to be restricted, the Board may, by notice posted in the district, or by advertisement inserted at least twice in some newspaper circulating in the district, give notice that all such vehicles will be subject to a penalty of not less than one shilling per hundred weight, or fractional part of a hundred weight so carried above the weight of one ton five hundred weight on two wheels, or two tons ten hundred weight on four wheels, and that such penalty shall be recoverable at the suit of the collector or other agent appointed for that purpose by the Board: Provided for the carrying into operation of this clause the Board shall be empowered to take such steps as to them shall appear necessary for ascertaining the weight of any load, and no liability or damage shall accrue for any necessary delay in ascertaining the said weight.”
And whereas application has been made to me on behalf of the Wanganui and Waitotara Highway Board, that the said clause may be proclaimed in force in the Wanganui and Waitotara Highway District.
Now therefore, I, William Fitzherbert, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, do hereby proclaim and declare that the said clause as above recited, shall be and be deemed to be in force within the boundaries of the said Wanganui and Waitotara Highway Districts on and after Monday, the twenty-eighth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

Wellington, 17th September, 1874.
HIS Honor the Superintendent has confirmed the following Construction Orders, passed by the Wanganui and Waitotara Highway Board:
“Wanganui and Waitotara Highway Board,
Wanganui, 6th July, 1874.
The Board having examined the deposited Plan, Section, and Specification, for the proposed ‘Puke Rimu’ Road, and considered the objections and suggestions made respecting such road; hereby order it to be constructed according to the line shown by such Plan, Section, and Specification.
The Board having examined the deposited Plan, Section, and Specification, for the proposed ‘Kowhatunui’ Road, and considered the objections and suggestions made respecting such road; hereby order it to be constructed according to the line shown by such Plan, Section, and Specification.”
Plans and Specifications of the above works have been deposited in this office.
