The Foxton Local Board District.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor William Fitzherbert,
Esquire, C.M.G., Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by an Act of the Provincial Council of the said Province of Wellington, Session XXIV, No. 5, intituled "The Local Boards Act, 1873," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the inhabitants of any locality in the Province of Wellington, exclusive of the inhabitants of the towns of Wellington and Wanganui, to apply by petition to the Superintendent of the Province, praying that in such locality a Board of Commissioners may be appointed with the several powers and authorities given by the said Act, and that on the receipt of any such petition the Superintendent of the said Province may issue a proclamation declaring that the provisions of the said Act shall come into force within such locality and that such locality shall thereafter be termed a district. And whereas a petition has been received by me from the inhabitants of the township of Foxton, in the Manawatu District, signed by the required number of inhabitants, praying that part of the said township may be constituted a district under the said Act. Now therefore, I, William Fitzherbert, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, do hereby proclaim and declare that the block of land commencing at the north-east corner of section No. 316; thence along the eastern boundary of said section (No. 316) and section No. 324 in a southerly direction; thence from the south-east corner of section No. 324 across the road to the north-east corner of section No. 396; thence along the eastern boundary of said section and section No. 381 to the south-east corner of section No. 381; thence west along the southern boundaries of sections Nos. 381 and 382; thence in the same line across the road to the eastern boundary of section No. 262; thence along said eastern boundary to the north-east corner of section No. 413; thence along the northern boundaries in a westerly direction of sections Nos. 413, 412, 212, and 211, across the road to the north-east corner of section No. 263, and along the northern boundary of section No. 263 to a point where such line strikes the bank of the river. The northern boundary commencing from the north-east corner of section No. 316, thence in a westerly direction along the northern boundaries of Sections Nos. 316, 315, and 314; thence across the road; thence along the northern boundaries of Sections Nos. 313, 312, 311, 310, 309, 308, 307, 306, 305, 304, and 303; thence across the road to the north-east corner of Section No. 87; thence in a northerly direction to the north-east corner of Section No. 466; thence from the said north-east corner in a westerly direction along the northern boundary of Section No. 466; thence across the road to the north-east corner of Section No. 89; thence along the northern boundaries of Sections Nos. 89, 90, and 467, to a point on the northern boundary of Section No. 468, fifty chains distant from the north-east corner thereof; thence due south to a point where such line will strike the bank of the river; thence in an easterly and southerly direction along the northern bank of the said river to the point where the northern boundary of Section No. 263 strikes the bank of the river, and containing within the said boundaries one thousand two hundred and sixty (1,260) acres, more or less, shall be, and the same is hereby constituted a district under the said Act: that the said district shall be called and known as "The Foxton Local Board District," and that the provisions of the said Act shall come into force within the said Foxton Local Board District from and after this date.

Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington this thirteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
