Lethbridge Local Board District.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor William Fitzherbert Esquire, C.M.G., Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by an Act of the Provincial Council of the said Province of Wellington, Session XXIV, No. 5, intituled “The Local Boards Act, 1873,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the inhabitants of any locality in the Province of Wellington, exclusive of the inhabitants of the towns of Wellington and Wanganui, to apply by petition to the Superintendent of the Province praying that in such locality a Board of Commissioners may be appointed with the several powers and authorities given by the said Act, and that on the receipt of any such petition, the Superintendent of the said Province may issue a proclamation declaring that the provisions of the said Act shall come into force within such locality, and that such locality shall thereafter be termed a district. And whereas a petition has been received by me from the inhabitants of a certain part of the Turakina District, signed by the required number of inhabitants, praying that the land contained within the boundaries hereinafter specified may be constituted a district under the said Act. Now, therefore, I, William Fitzherbert, Superintendent of the said Province of Wellington, do hereby proclaim and declare that the block of land starting from the point where the boundary line between Section No. 83 and a Native reserve, as described in the survey map of the Rangitikei District, meets the left bank of the Turakina river, thence northerly along the left bank of the said Turakina river to the point where the dividing boundary of the Sections Nos. 33 and 34 meets the said bank; thence along the dividing boundary of Sections Nos. 33 and 34; thence along the northern boundary of Section No. 28; thence along eastern boundary of Section No. 28; thence along the southern boundary of Section No. 26, so far as the point where the line meets the eastern boundary of Section No. 27; thence along the eastern boundary of Section No. 27 to its extremity at the point where it meets the Makirikiri stream; thence down the course of the Makirikiri stream to the point of junction with the Kauraponga stream; thence up the course of the Kauraponga stream to the point where the dividing boundary line between Sections Nos. 31 and 32 meets the stream; thence in a direct line to the point of starting, and containing within the said boundaries one thousand one hundred and forty (1140) acres, more or less, shall be, and the same is hereby constituted a district under the said Act. That the said district shall be called and known as “Lethbridge District,” and that the provisions of the said Act shall come into force within the said “Lethbridge District,” from and after this date.

Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington this twenty-ninth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
