It is enacted that the Governor may by order in Council published in the New Zealand Gazette, from time to time delegate to the Superintendent, or Executive of any Province or to any other person or persons within the said Colony, all or any of the powers by the said Act vested in the Governor or Governor in Council, subject to such regulations as he may think fit.

And whereas the Governor did, by Proclamation published in the New Zealand Gazette, dated the twelfth day of February, 1873, delegated the said powers to William Fitzherbert, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, so long as he shall continue and remain Superintendent of the said Province, to be exercised only in the said Province.

And whereas by the 11th Section of "The Protection of Animals Act 1867," it is enacted that no game shall be hunted, shot, taken, or killed, in any part of the Colony, until the same shall have been proclaimed as open for that purpose by order in Council, in that behalf, and no game shall be hunted, shot, taken or killed, except during the months of May, June, or July, in any year; and whereas by the 4th Section of "The Protection of Animals Act, 1872," it is further enacted that so much of Section 11 of "The Protection of Animals Act, 1867," as permits game to be hunted, shot, taken, or killed, during the month of July is hereby repealed.

Now, therefore, I, William Fitzherbert, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, do hereby proclaim and declare that game shall be open to be hunted, shot, taken, or killed within the district the boundaries whereof are defined in the Schedule hereto, during the months of

May and June, according to the above recited provisions of the said Act.

Schedule.

All that piece or parcel of land bounded on the North by the Northern boundary of the Province of Wellington; on the West by the sea coast to the mouth of the Rangitikei River; on the south by the Rangitikei River to its source; and on the east by the Eastern boundary of the said Province.

Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, this fifth day of June one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
