By Time.

Per half-hour ....................... 2s.
Per one hour ....................... 3s.
Per day of eight hours ............. 20s.
After 7 p.m., or before 7 a.m., per hour, 5s.

No. 3.

A regulation to amend a regulation made under Part X. of Sub-division 4, of Section 88, of Schedule XIII. of said Act, and published in the Provincial Government Gazette, of 24th September, 1872, No. 24 —

For the words, "Quarterly or Monthly Licences to date from the 1st of the month in all cases," read as follows:—

"Yearly Licences to date from the 1st October in each year.

Quarterly Licences to date from the 1st days of January, April, July, and October, respectively.

Monthly Licences to date from the 1st of the month in all cases."

No. 4.

A REGULATION made under the authority of Section 52, Sub-division 2, Part X. of Schedule XIII. of said Act, for appointing the several sums to be paid for Licences for night-carts:—

"For every Licence for any night-cart plying for hire within the City of Wellington there shall be paid to the Town Clerk the sum of one pound (£1) annually, and such Licence shall be available only until the next general licensing day, which shall be on the first day of October in each year, or the first day thereafter upon which such Licence can be granted."

Beyond the farthest boundaries named, viz.:—Princess Hotel, and Albion Hotel, by time, as per regulations passed by the Council and published in the Provincial Government Gazette of 24th September, 1872.

If a carter be unnecessarily delayed in leading or unloading to be allowed to charge at the rate of 9d. per quarter of an hour.

Wool or Flax.

From wharf to Krull’s or Odd Fellow’s Hall ... 3d. per bale
From wharf to J. Joseph’s, or Tonk’s ... 4d. per bale
From wharf to third boundary ... 6d. per bale

In the event of a carter being called off his stand and not employed, to charge at the rate of one load within said boundary.

Coals.

Coals in bags to the Terrace to be charged at the rate of 5s. per ton.
Half a ton, or fraction of half a ton, to be charged at the rate of half a ton, viz., 2s. 6d.

Coals in bags in the City:
1st boundary ... 2s. per ton
2nd boundary ... 3s. per ton
3rd boundary ... 3s. 6d. per ton
Do., 1st boundary, half a ton ... 1s. 6d. per ½ ton
Do., 2nd & 3rd do. ... 2s.

Timber.

500 feet to be considered a load, and charged as such.
After 7 p.m., and before 7 a.m., double fares to be charged.

Express Wagons.

Any quantity of goods, not exceeding 5 cwt., half a mile or fraction of half a mile ... 1s.
Do., exceeding half a mile, and not exceeding one mile ... 1s. 6d.
10 cwt., half a mile or fraction of half a mile ... 1s. 6d.
Do., exceeding half a mile, and not exceeding one mile ... 2s.
For every half mile, or fraction of a mile, after the first mile ... 1s.

The Terrace, Bolton Street, and Woolcombe Street — 6d. extra
5 cwt. ... 1s.
10 do. ... 1s.

Furniture and pianos to be charged by agreement.
Luggage double the charge of merchandise.

Called off stand, and not employed:
Per half mile, or fraction of a mile ... 1s.
Do., exceeding half a mile, and not exceeding one mile ... 1s. 6d.

After 7 p.m., or before 7 a.m., double fares.

Building Regulations for the City of Wellington.

  1. These Regulations shall come into force within the City of Wellington on the 1st day of June, 1873.

  2. For the purposes of these regulations, the City Council shall appoint an officer, to be called the City Building Surveyor, hereinafter referred to as the Surveyor.

  3. Every matter provided for in these regulations shall be subject to the inspection, superintendence, and services of the Surveyor, and there shall be charged and received by such Surveyor, on account of the Borough Fund, in respect of such inspection, superintendence, and other services, such fees as are set forth in Schedule B. to these regulations, or as shall from time to time be appointed by the Council by regulation in that behalf in lieu thereof or in addition thereto.

  4. Every building already erected, or which may hereafter be erected within the City, whether such building be built upon new or upon old foundations, or upon foundations partly old and partly new.
