Proclamation.

By His Honor WILLIAM FITZHERBERT, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Colony of New Zealand.

I, WILLIAM FITZHERBERT, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, by and with the advice and consent of my Executive Council, and by virtue of the powers vested in me, do hereby proclaim as follows:—

That the amount of tolls to be levied at the Toll Gates erected at Featherston, and at the Waiohini Bridge, on and after the 11th day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two, shall be as follows:—

For every sheep or other head of small cattle 0 0 0½

For every horse saddled or harnessed 0 0 6

For every horse not in harness or head of great cattle 0 0 3

For every two wheeled vehicle with springs drawn by one horse 0 1 0

For every additional horse 0 0 6

For every two wheeled vehicle without springs drawn by one horse 0 1 0

For every additional horse 0 1 0

For every four wheeled vehicle with springs drawn by one horse 0 1 0

For every additional horse 0 0 6

For every four wheeled vehicle without springs and drawn by one horse 0 1 0

For every additional horse 0 1 0

For every vehicle propelled along a road by steam or other like power 0 5 0

For every bullock dray drawn by two bullocks 0 1 0

For every additional pair of bullocks 0 1 0

For every foal at foot or calf 0 0 3

For every person passing through such gate as a passenger in or on any public vehicle exempt from Toll, except in cases where the driver of the vehicle pays toll as if not exempt 0 0 2

This schedule shall be read as if the words mare, gelding, ass, mule, bull, cow, or calf, were inserted after the word horse throughout.

Provided that no Toll shall be taken on any carriage or horse, re-passing or returning on the same day, except vehicles carrying passengers to and from any other places in the usual business of passenger carriers.

Every vehicle having the tires of all its wheels of a breadth of not less than five inches, and so formed that a breadth of not less than five inches come in contact with the ground on a firm cart road, and every horse drawing such vehicle shall be chargeable at tolls at one half the rate which would otherwise be charged thereon, under this part of this schedule.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, this thirtieth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

Warrant.

WHEREAS it has been notified to me under the hand of Herbert Dymock, Esq., Chairman of the Castle Point District Highway Board, that Mr. George Knight has resigned his seat as Warden for Ward No. 3 of the said district. Now therefore, I, William Fitzherbert, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by “The Highways Act, 1871,” do hereby appoint that for Ward No. 3 of the Castle Point Highway District the voters qualified to vote for the election of a Warden in such Ward shall meet at the premises of Messrs. R. & F. Maunsell, on Friday, the 6th day of December next, at 12 o’clock noon, for the purpose of electing a Warden for such Ward. And I do hereby appoint William Everett to be the Presiding Officer at the said meeting as aforesaid.

Given under my hand at Wellington, in the Province of Wellington, this fifteenth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two.

Notice.

His Honor the Superintendent has appointed a meeting for the election of a Warden for Ward No. 3 of the Castle Point Highway District, to be held at the premises of Messrs. R. & F. Maunsell, on Friday, the 6th day of December, 1872, at twelve o’clock noon.

William Everett has been appointed Presiding Officer for such meeting as aforesaid.
