Exhibition at Christchurch.

THE following letter is published for general information.

Christchurch, Sept. 27, 1872.
Sir,
The Colonial Government having intimated their intention of granting two hundred pounds for a Preliminary Exhibition of articles intended to be exhibited at Vienna in 1873, I am directed by the Committee of Management to request your Honor’s co-operation in the matter.
The Exhibition is to be held at Christchurch in December next. The Provincial Government of Canterbury have agreed to devote £100 to this object, and, in order that the colony may be well and fully represented at the Vienna Exhibition, the Committee trust that your Honor will see fit to recommend to your Executive to likewise grant such a sum as your Honor shall think fit. The Committee would also hope that your Honor would take such steps as may be necessary for the collection and safe transmission of the articles which may be forthcoming for exhibition from your province.
The Committee are in communication on the point with the Colonial Government in hope that the carriage of the exhibits to Christchurch may be effected as cheaply as possible.
The General Committee have formed the following Sub-Committees, whose first meeting is fixed for Monday, 30th September.
Sub-Committees on
- Wool
- Flax
- Grain
- Coal and Minerals
- Timber
- Miscellaneous objects
- Agricultural, Flax, and other Machinery.
Other Sub-Committees will, in all probability, be hereafter formed.
I am also directed to request your Honor to make it publicly known throughout your province that the Secretary to the General Committee will supply all necessary information to intending exhibitors, who are requested to communicate with him at once. Address: Government Buildings, Christchurch.

IN the Index to the Gazette for the year 1871, under "Appointments," the words "Borlase, C. B., Member of Executive, p. 38," should be omitted, no such appointment having been made.

I HEREBY give notice that by virtue of a Writ of Fieri Facias issued out of the above Honorable Court, and to me directed, I have caused my assistant bailiff to enter upon all that piece of land in the district of Rangitikei, in the Province of Wellington, containing thirty-two perches, or thereabouts, being part of section No. 17 in the said district of Rangitikei, and numbered 7 upon the plan of the sub-division of the said section, together with the buildings thereon, the leasehold property of the said Thomas Stoddart Lambert, having been taken in execution at the suit of the execution creditor, and that it is my intention to sell or cause to be sold by public auction, at Mr. Coleman’s auction Mart, Marton, on Monday the sixth day of January, 1873, at twelve o’clock noon, unless satisfaction be sooner made of said amount of judgment, and all costs and expenses connected therewith or incidental thereto.
And I further give notice that Thomas Richards Cash, Esq., of Marton, is the solicitor for the said plaintiff.
Given under my hand at Wanganui, this twenty-eighth day of September, 1872.
