Provided always, that the only authorised fare for conveying any passenger by any licensed Borough stage carriage shall be ... 0 6
Before the hour of seven in the morning, and after the hour of eight in the evening, double the foregoing fare shall be charged.
In every case the driver of any licensed carriage shall be at liberty to charge either by time or distance when engaged to go beyond the boundaries of the City of Wellington, provided such distance be within five miles, beyond such distance he shall not be compelled to go unless by special agreement.
If the hirer requires it, the licensee to carry one more person in his licensed hackney cab without extra charge, half fare to be charged for each additional person exceeding two.
The day thereafter upon which such licenses can be granted.
The weight to be carried for a single load by any cart licensed to stand or ply for hire shall not exceed 30cwt.
The stand for carts licensed to ply for hire (not being night carts) within the City of Wellington shall be on the east side of Custom House Quay, opposite the Queen’s Bonded Store, and opposite the Custom House, and at such other places as shall be appointed from time to time by the City Council by advertisement inserted in some newspaper published in the City.
For express waggons the stand shall be on the north side of Grey street, opposite the Post Office, and at such other places as shall be appointed from time to time by the City Council by advertisement inserted in some newspaper published in the City.
The rates and charges to be paid for the hire of any licensed cart or express waggon shall be as follows—
Fares by distance by express waggon.
For any quantity of goods not exceeding 5cwt, per mile or fraction of a mile within the city ... 0 1 0
For any quantity over 5cwt, and under ten cwt, for the first mile or part of a mile ... 0 2 0
For every additional mile or fraction of a mile ... 0 1 0
By cart.
For any quantity of goods not exceeding 10cwt, distance a mile or under ... 0 1 0
Further distance to be charged by time.
For any quantity over 10cwt, and under 30cwt, to any part of the Borough of Wellington from any stand, not exceeding one mile ... 0 1 6

Removing of furniture always to be paid by time, the party being bound to use all reasonable expedition. The employer is to have the option of paying either according to the scale of time or distance, except in case of removal of furniture.
No. 11.
REGULATIONS made under the authority of Section 73, Sub-division 2, Part 10, of Schedule 13, of said Act, “For appointing the several sums to be paid for licenses for carts, the weight to be carried for a single load by every cart licensed to stand or ply for hire the standings for carts licensed to ply for hire, not being night carts, and for appointing the fares, and charges to be paid for the hire of any licensed cart and the amount of rewards to be paid to water carters attending at fires.”
For every license for any cart or express waggon plying for hire within the City of Wellington there shall be paid to the Town Clerk the sum of £1 annually, and such license shall be available only until the next general licensing day, which shall be on the first day of October in each year, or the first day thereafter upon which such licenses can be granted.
