Speech of His Honor the Superintendent on Proroguing the Twenty-second Session of the Provincial Council.

Mr. Speaker and Gentlemen of the Provincial Council,—

In addition to the Ad Interim Appropriation Act, 1872, to which I have already given my assent, I desire to inform you that I have now assented, on behalf of His Excellency the Governor, to the following Acts, viz:—

  1. An Act to authorise the sale of a Piece of Land in Hobson street, in the city of Wellington, vested in the Superintendent under the Public Reserves Act.

  2. An Act to fix the Yearly Sum to be received as Rent on renewing or re-granting Licenses under the provisions of the Wellington Waste Lands Act, 1870.

  3. An Act to repeal certain Obsolete and Invalid Acts.

  4. An Act to declare the mode in which the Punishment of Offences created by Acts of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of Wellington shall be enforced, and for Limiting the Amount of such Punishment.

  5. An Act for Incorporating Charitable and other Institutions within the province of Wellington.

  6. An Act to vest the Management of the Wanganui Hospital and Property thereof in a Board of Commissioners.

  7. An Act to amend the Acts of the Superintendent and Provincial Council relating to Toll-gates...

  8. An Act to Consolidate and Amend the Laws relating to Fencing within the Province.

  9. An Act to Amend and Consolidate the Laws relating to Scab, Catarrh, and Sheep Inspectors.

  10. An Act to amend the Act of the Superintendent and Provincial Council, Session III, No 8, intuited an Act to Amend and Consolidate the Law relating to Cattle Trespass and Impounding.

  11. An Act to authorise the Sale of a Piece of Land at Wanganui to the Freemasons.

  12. An Act to authorise the Sale of a Portion of the Reclaimed Land in the city of Wellington.

  13. An Act to Appropriate the Revenue of the Province of Wellington for the term commencing on the 1st day of April, 1872, and ending the 31st day of March, 1873.

Out of seventeen bills which have been introduced this session by the Government, fourteen have been passed by you. Two of the remaining ones, viz., Wanganui Wharf and the Wanganui Bridge Bills have been withdrawn in consequence of the arrangement which has been entered into between the Province and...
