Election of Provincial Council Member for the City of Wellington.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 4th August, 1871.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified for general information, that a writ for the election of a member to serve in the Provincial Council for the City of Wellington, having been issued in accordance with Clause 12, of

“An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand,”
the Returning Officer has returned the said writ with a certificate that the undermentioned gentleman has been duly elected to serve as a member of the Provincial Council for the said City of Wellington,

Proclamation.

By His Honor William Fitzherbert Esquire Superintendent of the Province of Wellington in the Colony of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by the Land Regulations now in force in the Province of Wellington it is declared that all reserves for the sites of townships or suburban lands for the sites of agricultural and small farm settlements or for any other purpose of public advantage safety convenience health or enjoyment shall be determined by the Superintendent who shall notify the same by proclamation wherein the object shall be specified for which any reserve shall be made And whereas it would be of public advantage if certain sections of land in the township of Palmerston in the Manawatu district were set apart for a public cemetery Now therefore I William Fitzherbert Superintendent of the Province of Wellington in virtue of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf do hereby proclaim and declare that suburban sections number three hundred and seven (307) containing four (4) acres and three (3) roods more or less and suburban section number three hundred and eight (308) containing four (4) acres and three (3) roods more or less and situated in the township of Palmerston in the Manawatu district aforesaid are hereby reserved and set apart by me as a public cemetery.

Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington at Wellington this Twenty-second day of August One thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.
