Provincial Notices

Notice to Shipmasters.

SHIPMASTERS navigating the Wanganui River, and having occasion to pass through the bridge while under construction, are hereby notified that from and after the seventeenth day of November, 1870, until further notice be given, a space of 40 feet wide, in the works of the temporary bridge will be left open for navigation. All sailing vessels that have occasion to pass through the bridge, either up or down, are required to anchor within convenient distance of the bridge, so that they may be either warped or dropped through, as may be deemed proper. All steamers passing through under steam must go easy, and cause their yards to be topped up or braced by in such manner as will effectually prevent all accidents; any boats hanging in davits shall be caused to be swung inboard, or otherwise disposed of.
