Highway Districts and Sheep Inspectors' Reports




Proposed Belmont Highway District.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 19th October, 1869.

IT is hereby notified that application has been made to his Honor the Superintendent to proclaim a Highway District with the following boundaries, viz.:—

Commencing at the north west corner of Section No. 552, Hutt District, thence easterly along the southern boundary of the Pauhatanui Road District to the north east corner of Richard Cole’s application for 60 acres, thence southerly in a straight line to the south east corner of section No. 336, thence westerly to the north east corner of section No. 335, thence southerly to the south east corner of section No. 326, thence westerly to the north east corner of section No. 325, thence southerly to its south east corner, thence westerly to the north east corner of section No. 316, thence southerly to its south east corner, thence westerly along its southern boundary to the point of intersection with the eastern boundary of section No. 317, thence southerly to the south east corner of section No. 307, thence along the northern boundary of section No. 305 to its north east corner, thence southerly to the south east corner of section No. 300, thence along the northern boundary of section No. 129 to its north east corner, thence along the eastern boundaries of sections Nos. 129 and 115, to the intersection of the line with the north western boundary of section No. 75, thence along the north western boundary of said section No. 75 to its south west corner, thence easterly to the north west corner of section No. 28, thence southerly to its south west corner, thence easterly along the southern boundary of said section No. 28, to the Belmont road, thence along the western side of the Belmont road until it intersects the southern boundary of section No. 24, thence along the southern boundary of section No. 24 to its south west corner, thence along the western boundaries of sections Nos. 24 and 115 to the South east corner of section No. 80, thence westerly to its south west corner, thence northerly to its north west corner, thence westerly to the south west corner of section No. 109, thence northerly to its north west corner, thence westerly to the south west corner of section No. 309, thence on a line bearing about 294° 30′ Magnetic, till it intersects the boundary of the Horokiwi Road District, thence northerly along the boundaries of the Horokiwi Road District to the starting point.

And notice is hereby further given that at the expiration of six months from this date it is his Honor’s intention to proclaim the proposed Highway District, should no sufficient objection be meanwhile raised to his doing so.

Makirikiri Highway District.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 19th October, 1869.

NOTICE is hereby given that application has been made to his Honor the Superintendent to include certain lands within the boundaries of the Makirikiri district, viz.:—

Beginning at the north east corner of section No. 17, and extending along the north boundary thereof and continuing until it reaches the north west corner of section 23, then taking down the western boundary until it strikes the Makirikiri stream, thence continuing in the same line until it strikes the north boundary of the Great North Western Road, thence along the northern boundary of the same road until it reaches the south west corner of section 56. Also, beginning at the south west corner of section 57A and extending along the northern boundary of the Great North Western road until it reaches the south east corner of section 42, then running along the eastern boundary of section 42, then running along the eastern boundary of the said section until it reaches the north east corner, thence along the northern boundary in a straight line until it reaches the north west corner of section 57A, thence along the western boundary of the said section until it reaches the south west corner from where it started.

And notice is hereby further given that at the expiration of six months from this date, it is his Honor’s intention to proclaim the said boundaries unless sufficient objection is meanwhile raised to his doing so.

Sheep Inspectors’ Reports.

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
Wellington, 24th Sept., 1869.

THE Inspector of Sheep for the East Coast reports that he has, on the 21st May, 1869, examined the Sheep of

Duncan Cameron, Blaitheorie,

numbering four thousand (4000) more or less, and granted a clean certificate.

Also, on the 23rd August, 1869, he received notice, dated 20th August, 1869, from

Mr. Moore,

of a scabby sheep, having been found amongst his wether flock at Wainuioru, and that his certificate had therefore been cancelled from that date.

The Inspector of Sheep for the Wairarapa reports that he has on the 30th July, 1869, cancelled the clean certificate of

Thomas Brightwell, Taratahi East.

Also, on the 10th August, 1869, cancelled the clean certificate of

Alexander Yule, East Taratahi,

for wether flock.
