THE Inspector of Sheep for the Wanganui and Rangitikei District reports that on the 16th July, the sheep of
MAJOR TRAFFORD,
depasturing on the South side of the Rangitikei River, were discovered to be infected with Scab and that his clean certificate has been cancelled.
For the Provincial Secretary.
Whareama, 6th July, 1869.
SIR,—I have the honor to report for your information, I have this day inspected the flock of sheep belonging to
MR. JAMES NICHOLL,
TAUERAU,
and found them infected with Scab. I have cancelled his clean certificate from this date. The flock were infected by scabby sheep from the flocks of Messrs. H. Wilton and Davenport, and T. C. Darcy. There were only ten (10) sheep in Mr. Nicholl’s flock with very small spots, about a fortnight or three weeks old. I had given him notice to muster when I found other flocks in the district infected on the 16th June.
Owing to the great carelessness of those parties in this section of the district having charge of diseased flocks, I feel there is no course left me but to lay information under “Clause 2 of the Scab Act.”
I have the honor to remain,
Your obedient Servant,
THOMAS TELFORD,
Inspector of Sheep Wharehama District.
W. H. DONALD, Esq.,
Inspector of Sheep, Waitarapa.
