Quarantine Ground.
PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor Isaac Earl Featherston Esquire Superintendent of the Province of Wellington in the Islands of New Zealand.
WHEREAS by an Order in Council published in the New Zealand Government Gazette, bearing date the eighteenth day of January one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four and duly signed by Sir George Grey, K. C. B., Governor of the Islands of New Zealand the said Sir George Grey with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand did in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in the Governor in Council by the “Marine Board Act 1863” approve (inter alia) of the following Quarantine Regulations made and issued by the Marine Board for the several Ports and Harbours in the Colony of New Zealand and did declare that the same should be in force from and after the twelfth day of January one thousand eight hundred and sixty-four.
REGULATIONS Nos. 11, 12 AND 14.
No. 11.—There shall for every Port be a Health Officer to be from time to time appointed by the Superintendent of the Province who shall immediately upon receipt of the said report visit the vessel so anchored and if he shall find that any sickness of an infectious or contagious nature exists or shall then recently have existed on board her submit full information in regard thereto to the Board of Health hereinafter mentioned.
No. 12.—The Board of Health shall consist of the Resident Magistrate of the Port one or more Justices of the Peace the superior officer of Customs at the Port and if the Health Officer be not a Medical practitioner one or more legally qualified Medical practitioners to be appointed by the Superintendent of the Province of which Board the Resident Magistrate shall be the convener.
No. 14.—It shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any Province upon the recommendation of the said Board to appoint any station or place within any Port or Harbour in the said Province for the performance of Quarantine where all vessels liable to Quarantine and the crews passengers and persons on board thereof shall perform the same and also if necessary to appoint Lazarets and other places where the crews passengers and persons and the goods wares and merchandise which shall or may be on board the said vessels shall and may be detained landed and kept for the performance of Quarantine.
AND WHEREAS there has been duly appointed a Board of Health for the Port of Wellington which said Board is now in existence and hath recommended that the Station or place within the Harbour of Wellington hereinafter particularly described should be the station or place for the performance of Quarantine within the said Port or Harbour of Wellington
