Calling out the Wairarapa Militia.
By His Honor Isaac Earl Featherston, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Islands of New Zealand,
WHEREAS by the “Militia Act Amendment Act, 1862,” the Governor or such person as he should appoint as his Deputy for that purpose is empowered from time to time to call out the whole or any part or number of any Regiment, Battalion, Corps, or Company of Militia in any District as he shall think fit.
And whereas the Governor by Warrant under his hand has appointed me his Deputy within the District of Wairarapa, from time to time to call out the Militia thereof for training and exercise.
And whereas it appears to me expedient to call out for training and exercise part of the Militia of the District of Wairarapa.
Now therefore I, Isaac Earl Featherston, as such Deputy aforesaid, in pursuance of the said recited power, do hereby call out for training and exercise:
The First and Second Classes of the said Militia of the said Wairarapa District.
And I order Edward Gorton, Major, the Officer commanding the said District, to carry into effect this direction.
Given under my hand at Wellington, in the Province of Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.
