Appointment of Registrars of Births,

Deaths and Marriages.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to appoint

Holmes Crayne
to be Registrar of Marriages, and Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, for
the District of Wairarapa; and

James Edward Ind Boys
to be Registrar of Marriages, and Registrar of Births, Deaths, and Marriages,
for the District of Grey Town, as the
said Districts are defined in Proclamations bearing date 7th August, 1863, and
published in this Gazette.

Appointment of Officers.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been
pleased to make the following appointments in the Wellington Militia:—

Capt. John S. Kirwan, to be Captain.
Date of Commission—June 2nd, 1863.

Capt. John S. Kirwan, to be Adjutant.
Date of Commission—June 2nd, 1863.

Capt. John S. Kirwan, to be Paymaster.
Date of Commission—June 2nd, 1863.

Pay and Allowances.

THE Rules relative to Pay and Allowances to Militia and Volunteers are
published for general information.

PAY AND ALLOWANCES TO OFFICERS.

Pay to officers will be issued at the
same rates as allowed in Her Majesty’s
service, excepting to those holding appoint
ments under the General Government,
who will be only entitled to half the pay
of their respective ranks.

Pay to commence from the day on
which the battalion was called out for
training or actual service; and those officers who have been appointed since that
period, provided that they have been
available and done duty, will be entitled
to pay from the dates of their respective
commissions.

No pay will be issued to officers absent
from their battalions, either with or without leave unless under special authority.

Allowances.

Command and forage allowance will be
allowed to all officers that would be entitled to the same in Her Majesty’s
army.

Officers when not called away from
the locality to which their battalion belongs will be allowed, in addition to their
regular pay, 2s 6d. a day for the days
they are on guard, escort or picquet.

Officers when called upon to leave
their homes and proceed on detachment
will receive an allowance of 2s 6d. a day
for every day they may be so situated
and a commissariat ration in addition
will be issued to them free of charge.

Adjutants to get 3s. 6d. per diem in
addition to captain’s pay.
