SIR,β€” I have the honor to inform you that Messrs. Hibbert and Co. have presented four very superior Rifles with cases complete, to be fired for by the Volunteers in New Zealand.

The Regulations for the competition of the above will be forwarded to you by the January mail; also the Regulations for the Government Prize firing for 1861, with a supply of Ammunition.

You are requested to make the contents of this letter known to the members of the Force under your command.

THE HUTT DISTRICT COURT.

NOTICE is hereby given that a Sitting of the District Court at the Hutt for the despatch of business will be held at the School House, at Greytown, on Friday the 17th day of January next, at ten o'clock in the forenoon, when all parties concerned are required to give their attendance.

Notice is hereby also given that a Sitting of the District Court of the Hutt for the despatch of business will be held on Tuesday, the 21st day of January next, at the Mechanics' Institute at the Lower Hutt, at ten o'clock in the forenoon, when all parties concerned are required to give their attendance.

Applications for Summons and other proceedings of the District Court are to be made to the Attong Clerk at the Supreme Court House, at Wellington, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, between the hours of ten and four.
