At the Government House, at Auckland,
the First day of February, 1861.
Present,—
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly intituled the “Arms Act, 1860,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council from time to time to declare by order in Council to be published in the New Zealand Gazette that from and after a day to be named in such order the said Act shall be in force in any province within the Colony and the same shall be in force accordingly: Provided always that the same shall be brought into force within every Province of the Colony before the first day of March, 1861:
Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, doth hereby order that the said Act shall be in force in all the Provinces of the Colony on the twentieth day of February, instant.

A PROCLAMATION
For the Dissolution of the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington.
By His Excellency Colonel Thomas Gore Browne, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.
WHEREAS by an Act of the Imperial Parliament, passed in the fifteenth and sixteenth years of the reign of Her present Majesty, Cap. seventy two, intituled “An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand,” the several Provinces of Auckland, New Plymouth, Wellington, Nelson, Canterbury, and Otago are thereby established, and it is enacted that for each of the said Provinces there shall be a Superintendent and Provincial Council.
