I, DAVID LEWIS, a Commissioner duly appointed by virtue of the Ordinance, No. 15, Session 11, of the Legislative Council of the Islands of New Zealand, to hear and decide claims to land by persons claiming title from, through, or under the New Zealand Company, Report that the claim of the undermentioned persons having been duly referred to me, I do hereby decide the said persons to be entitled to Government Scrip, particulars whereof are set forth in the Schedule below.
David Lewis,
Commissioner.
SCHEDULE.
| No. of Report. | No. of Claim. | Name of Claimant. | Commissioner’s Decision. |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1225 | 36 | George Hart and Robert Hart, Entitled to Government Scrip to the Trustees of the Estate of Robert Hart Pike. | Entitled to Government Scrip to the amount of One hundred and fifty pounds (£150), being in fulfilment of an award made in a case of arbitration before Mr. Commissioner Bell and Henry St. Hill, Government Assessor, on the 19th September, 1856, for a portion of Section 7, Harbour District, reserved for the Natives. |
The claim to the Scrip above awarded was heard and found correct in 1856, but the Report was adjourned in consequence of an understanding that an effort was to be made to acquire the reserved portion by purchase from the Natives. This object has not been accomplished. The claimants at their request are entitled to the fulfilment of their award.
The Report of No. 1181 declaring the claimants “entitled to select 150 acres of Rural land,” published in the Government Gazette, 7th July, 1861, No. 21, is in error, and is hereby cancelled.
