Militia District Boundaries




NO. 5 COMPANY.

PORIRUA DISTRICT.

To comprise all those liable to serve as Militiamen, whose places of abode for the time being are—

Within a line commencing at the embouchure of the stream in Ohariu Bay; thence along the Maori path in a South Easterly direction to the summit of the Otara range; thence in a North Easterly direction along the said range to the Western corner of No. 1 section Kinapoura District; thence in an Easterly direction along No. 1 Kinapoura District, being the division line between the Kai Warra Warra and Kinapoura Districts, to the division between Nos. 4 and 5 Harbor District; thence in a South Easterly direction along the said division to the sea; thence in a North Easterly direction along the shores of the Harbor to the junction with the boundary of the Hutt Electoral District; thence along the said boundary in a Northerly direction to a fifteen miles radius from the mouth of the Hutt River, then following the limit of the said radius Westward until it strikes the coast; thence in a Southerly direction along the sea coast to the commencement including Kinapoura, Ohariu, Takapu, Porirua, Horokiwi-road, Pahatanui, Horokiwi Valley and Mana District.

NO. 6 COMPANY.

KARORI AND MAKARA.

To comprise all those liable to serve as Militiamen, whose places of abode for the time being are—

Within a line commencing at the embouchure of the Karori Stream; near Cape Tarawite, thence in a straight line Northerly to the source of the Kaiwarra-warra Stream; thence down the course of the said stream to its intersection of No. 32, Karori District; thence along the said stream to No. 1 Section, Kaiwarra-warra District; thence by a straight line Northerly to the summit of the Clare range, where the Maori path crosses the same; thence North-Westerly along the said path to the mouth of the stream in Ohariu Bay, thence South along the sea coast at high-water mark to the commencement, including the Karori, Makara and part of Ohariu District.

MILITIA NOTICE.

BY VIRTUE and in exercise of the authority in me vested, I, ALFRED LUDLAM, Captain Commanding the Hutt Battalion of Wellington Militia, Do hereby appoint and declare, that the said Battalion shall be formed into Four Companies as follows, viz:—

LOWER HUTT.

NO. 1 AND 2 COMPANY.

To comprise all those liable to serve as Militiamen, whose places of abode for the time being, are within that portion of the Hutt Electoral District commencing at Turakirao head and running North until it meets an East and West line, being a prolongation of the Northern boundary of Sections 35 and 36 Lower Hutt; thence along that line until it meets the Koro Koro stream, thence down that stream to the sea.

TAITA.

NO. 3. COMPANY.

To comprise all those liable to serve as Militiamen, whose places of abode for the time being, are within that portion of the Hutt Electoral District, commencing at the Northern boundary of No. 1 and 2 Company, which line being extended to the Horokiwi Road District, thence along the Eastern line of that District to the North East corner of section No. 34 in that district; thence by a line running Eastward to the 2nd Gorge, at the Southern boundary of Section 196, Upper Hutt; thence along the road to the Southern boundary line of section No. 81; thence Eastward to the range; thence Southward until it meets the Northern boundary of No. 2 Company.

UPPER HUTT.

NO. 4 COMPANY.

To comprise all those liable to serve as Militiamen, whose places of abode for the time being, are within that portion of the Hutt Electoral District commencing at the Northern boundary of the Taita, or No. 3 Company, and extending Northwards; comprising the whole District known as the Upper Hutt and Mungaroa, and extending to the Northward and Eastward to the radius line of 15 miles from the mouth of the River Hutt.
