PROCLAMATION
By His Honor Isaac Earl Featherston,
Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Islands of New Zealand.
WHEREAS a Proclamation was issued
on the first day of June last, under
the Public Seal of the Province, and hand
of His Honor the Superintendent, constituting a certain portion of the Province of
Wellington a Highway District, and by the
name of the "North Makara Highway
District," the Northern and Eastern limits
of which were described as follows, namely:—
North—the Northern boundary line of a
piece of land in the Ohariu district belonging to Caleb Cull, and being Lot X of the
block of land formerly a Native garden;
thence along the Northern boundary of
Section number 73 Ohariu, in a straight
line until it meets the Coast. East—the
Eastern boundaries of Sections numbers 23,
26, 27, and so much of 29, Makara district,
as is formed by the Stream there; then to
the top of the Otari range; thence to the
South-eastern corner of Section No. 78,
Ohariu, along the Eastern and Northern
boundaries thereof, and thence along the
Eastern side of the public road to the North-eastern corner of Caleb Cull’s land before
referred to.
And Whereas it is expedient to alter the
limits of the said "North Makara Highway
District," Now therefore I, Isaac Earl
Featherston, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, Do hereby, in virtue of
the authority in me vested in this behalf,
Proclaim that from and after the issue of
this Proclamation the Northern and Eastern
limits of the "North Makara Highway
District" shall be as follows, namely:—
North—the Northern boundary line of
Sections No. 68 and 70, in the Ohariu
District; thence in a straight line to the
sea. East—the Eastern boundaries of Sections numbers 23, 26, 27, and so much of
29, Makara District, as is formed by the
Stream there; thence to the top of the
Otari range; thence to the South-eastern
corner of Section No. 78, Ohariu, to
the North-eastern corner of the said Section
No. 68, Ohariu, instead of the Northern
and Eastern boundaries described in the
said Proclamation.
Given under my hand, and issued
under the Public Seal of the Province of
Wellington, at Wellington, this twelfth
day of July, One thousand eight hundred and sixty.
