PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, ESQUIRE, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Islands of New Zealand.

WHEREAS under the provisions of an Act of the Provincial Council, Session I. No. 21, then in force, a certain District called the Wai-nui-o-mata, was in the month of November, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-four, proclaimed to be a district within which rates upon land should be levied for the making, maintenance, repair and improvement of the Highways then and thereafter to be made therein: And Whereas by the District Highways’ Act, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, the said Act, Session I. No. 21, was repealed, but it was thereby provided that all districts proclaimed under the said Act should continue such for the purposes of the Highways’ Act, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, until altered under the provisions thereof: And Whereas by the Highways’ Act, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, the Superintendent, among other things, was authorised for the purposes thereof by Proclamation to divide the Province or any part thereof into Districts, and in like manner sub-divide, alter, or reunite the same: And Whereas under the provisions of the said Highways’ Act, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, a District called the Waiwetu District was in the month of March, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven, proclaimed a District for the purposes thereof, and within such District was comprised Section, number thirteen, on the Plan of the Hutt District;

And Whereas it has been represented to the Superintendent that it would be advantageous to all parties concerned therein if the said Section, number (13) thirteen, in the Hutt District, were comprised in the Wai-nui-o-mata District for the purposes of the said Highways’ Act, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-six:

Now therefore in exercise of the authority vested in me in this behalf, I, ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, the Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, Do hereby Proclaim that from and after the date of this Proclamation the said Section, number thirteen, on the Plan of the Hutt District, shall cease to be part of the Waiwetu District:

And I do further in exercise of such powers aforesaid also Proclaim that from the date of this Proclamation the said Section, number (18) thirteen, on the Plan of the Hutt District, shall be comprised in the Wai-nui-o-mata District for the purposes of the said Highways’ Act.
