NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
Provincial Engineer’s Office,
Wellington, 4th December, 1858.
TENDERS will be received at the Provincial Secretary’s Office until noon on Wednesday the 22nd inst., for making 25 chains of the Great North Eastern Road, at Masterton, and building two log bridges on the same.
Plans and Specifications may be seen at this Office, and at Mr. Dixon’s, Masterton.
The Road and Bridges may be tendered for separately, or they may be included in one contract.

NOTICE is Hereby Given, that the Plan and Section, and other documents (as required by the “District Highways’ Act,”) for the proposed diversion of the Brunswick Road in the Tumuhare district, have been deposited in this Office; and that a meeting of the Tumuhare Board, to hear objections and suggestions respecting such diversion, will be held at the Rutland Hotel, Wanganui, at noon on Thursday, December, 23rd, 1858.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.
PENCARROW LIGHTHOUSE.
NOTICE is hereby given that on and after the first day of January next, a new light will be exhibited on Pencarrow Head at the entrance of Port Nicholson (Wellington) Cook’s Strait, New Zealand.
The new light will be of the second order (Catadioptric system) with eclipses at intervals of two minutes; it will be 420 feet above high water mark, and visible in ordinary weather at a distance of thirty English miles.
The following are the magnetic bearings and distances of the site of the new Lighthouse.
From Baring Head, N.W. by N., 3½ miles.
From Sinclair Head, E. by N. ½ N., 6½ miles.
From Outer Rock of Barrett’s Reef, S.E. by E. ½ E., 1 mile.
From Steeple Rock, S.S.E., 2 miles.
From Cape Campbell, N.N.E. ½ E., 33 miles.
The Lighthouse is in Latitude 41° 22’ 0” S. Longitude 174° 51’ 15” E.

NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS.
NORTH WESTERN ROAD.
Provincial Engineer’s Office,
Wellington, 8th December, 1858.
TENDERS will be received at the Provincial Secretary’s Office until Noon of Thursday the 30th instant, for keeping the North Western Road in repair for a period of 12 months from the 1st January, 1859.
The work to be tendered for in four (4) separate portions, as follows:—
No. 1.—From the Junction of the Ngahauranga Road at Johnsonville, to Brown’s Bridge, at Porirua.
No. 2.—From Brown’s Bridge to the Inn at Pahatanui.
No. 3.—From the Inn at Pahatanui to Baker’s whare, Horrokiwi Valley.
No. 4.—From Baker’s to the Beach at Paikakariki.
Or the whole may be tendered for as one contract.
Specifications may be seen at this Office.
All Tender to be addressed “To the Provincial Secretary, Wellington,” and endorsed “Tenders for repairs of North Western Road.”
