NOTICE.
Election of Twelve Members to represent the "City or Town of Wellington," in the Provincial Council.
PROVINCE OF WELLINGTON TO WIT:
WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of his Excellency THOMAS GORE BROWNE, Commander of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, &c., &c., and under the Public Seal of the Colony of New Zealand, bearing date the Tenth day of August, One thousand Eight hundred and fifty-seven, hath been directed to me, Henry St. Hill, Esquire, Returning Officer for the City or Town of Wellington, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, Twelve legally qualified persons to serve as members for the City or Town of Wellington, in the Provincial Councils of the Province of Wellington.
NOW THEREFORE I, the said Henry St. Hill, Returning Officer for the City or Town of Wellington, do hereby, in pursuance of the said Writ, Give Notice, that a Public meeting of the Electors of the City or Town of Wellington will be holden at the Resident Magistrate's Court, situate on Lambton-quay, in the City or Town of Wellington on Wednesday the Fourth (4th) day of November next, at noon for the purpose of nominating Twelve persons to serve as Members for the City or Town of Wellington in the said Provincial Council; and in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or any one of them, such Polling shall take place on Thursday the Fifth (5th) day of November next, at the said Resident Magistrate's Court; the voting to commence at any time after Nine o'clock in the forenoon of the said day, and to close at Four o'clock in the afternoon of the said day.
