NOTICE.

PROVINCE OF WELLINGTON.

ELECTION OF SUPERINTENDENT.

WHEREAS, a Writ under the hand of His Excellency Thomas Gore Browne, Commander of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Colony of New Zealand, &c. &c., bearing date the tenth day of August, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven, and under the Public Seal of the said Colony, hath been directed to me, Henry St. Hill, Esquire, Principal Returning Officer for the Province of Wellington, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by the Voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by Law prescribed, a legally qualified person to serve as Superintendent for the Province of Wellington.

NOW THEREFORE I, the said Henry St. Hill, Principal Returning Officer for the Province of Wellington, do hereby, in pursuance of the said recited Writ, give Notice, that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the Province of Wellington, will be holden at the Resident Magistrate’s Court, situate on Lambton Quay, in the City of Wellington, on Monday, the Twenty-eighth (28th) day of September instant, at noon, for the purpose of nominating a Person to serve as Superintendent for the said Province; and in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or any of them, such Polling shall take place on Monday the Nineteenth (19th) day of October next, at the said Resident Magistrate’s Court, at Wellington, aforesaid, and at the several polling places throughout the Province; the voting to commence at any time after nine o’clock of the said day, and to close at four o’clock in the afternoon of the said day.

Dated at the Resident Magistrate’s Court, at Wellington, this Third day of September, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven.
