PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor Isaac, Earl Featherston, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Islands of New Zealand.
WHEREAS by the “Public Boards Act, 1856,” of the Provincial Council of Wellington, it was enacted that the Superintendent might whenever he should deem fit by Proclamation declare that a Board of Wardens for the management of Local Public Works and matters should be established for any Shire, District, Township, Town, or Ward and might unite and declare any District, Townships, Towns or Wards to be a District for the purposes of the said Act: And Whereas it is deemed fit to establish a Public Board for the District of Waipukarau.
Now THEREFORE I, Isaac Earl Featherston, the Superintendent of the Province of Wellington under the power vested in me by the Act above referred to, do hereby Proclaim, that a Board of Wardens for the management of Local Public Works and matters shall be established for the District of Waipukarau,
the boundaries of which District for the purposes of the said Act, I declare to be as follows, viz:—
North.—By a line due east and west passing through the Trigonometrical Station at Kawehei, near Te Aute.
South.—By the Porangahau and Mangawhere rivers to Rae Katia, a remarkable hill, thence due west to the Ruahine Mountains.
East.—By the sea from the River Porangahau to three miles north of the river Manawarakau.
West.—By the Ruahine mountains.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, this sixth day of July, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven.
