PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor, ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in the Islands of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by the District Highways Act, passed by the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington, Session 3, No. 4, it was enacted that the Superintendent might for the purposes of the said Act, from time to time by Proclamation divide the Province or any part thereof into districts and might in like manner subdivide alter or reunite the same. And whereas it is expedient to proclaim the portion of the Province hereinafter mentioned to be a District for the purposes of the said Act. Now therefore I, Isaac Earl Featherston, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, in virtue of the power and authority in me vested in this behalf, do here-by Proclaim and Declare that the following Sections of land situate in the Hutt Valley, viz., Sections numbers 53, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, and 45 in the Hutt District, and that portion of the Public Road upon which the above Sections numbers 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, and 45 abut, shall form and constitute a District for the purposes of the "District Highways Act" before mentioned and shall be called the "Upper Waiwetu District."

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington, this third day of November, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six.

NOTICE.

Provincial Secretary's Office,
31st October, 1856.

TENDERS will be received at this office on or before Saturday, the 8th day of November, at noon, for landing such Immigrants as may be introduced by the Provincial Government, during the six months ending 8th May, 1857.

CONDITIONS.

  1. The price to be at per head, including the whole of the boxes, bedding and other baggage.

  2. The boats to be provided with sufficient Tarpaulings and to discharge at such wharf as may be directed by the Immigration Clerk.

  3. Carts to be provided by the tenderers for removing the whole of the Baggage to which-ever of the Depots the Immigrants may be sent. Tarpaulings to be provided in wet or showery weather.

  4. As some of the vessels may probably moor alongside Swinbourne's wharf, the Ten-ders to state a price per head for Cartage only, to either depot, of the whole of the Baggage belonging to the Immigrants arriving by such vessels.

  5. The Wharfage not to be included in the tender, the same being paid by the Provincial Government.

  6. The work to be performed to the satisfaction of the Immigration Clerk.

NOTICE TO SHIP OWNERS, BOATMEN, &c.

Provincial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, November 3, 1856.

TENDERS will be received at this Office, until Tuesday the 18th inst., at noon, from persons willing to contract for the conveyance of Two thousand Tons of Stone from Somes' Island to where they may be required for building a Sea Wall between the wharves of Messrs. Bowler and Plimmer.

The Stone will be put on a jetty at Somes' Island along side of which there will be a depth of five feet at high-water.

The expense of loading and discharging will have to be included in the Tender.

Deliveries to be made at the rate of not less than Two hundred Tons per week.

SUPREME COURT.

NOTICE is hereby given, that a Sitting of the Supreme Court for the despatch of criminal business, will be holden at the Court House, Wellington, on Monday, the 1st day of December next, at ten o'clock in the fore-noon, at which time and place, persons under recognizance to appear, either as prosecutors, defendants, or witnesses, are required to give their attendance.
