HIS HONOR THE SUPERINTENDENT
directs it to be notified for general infor-
mation, that a Writ for the Election of one
additional Member to serve in the Provincial
Council for the Hutt District having been is-
sued in accordance with the provisions of an
Act of the Provincial Council, Sess. III, No. 1,
entitled, "An Act to enlarge the Provincial
Council," the Returning Officer has returned
the said Writ, with a Certificate that the un-
dermentioned Gentleman has been duly elect-
ed to serve as a Member for the said Hutt
District.

NOTICE.

Wanganui and Rangitikei District.
ELECTION OF TWO ADDITIONAL MEM-
BERS OF THE PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
Province of Wellington,
To-Wit.
WHEREAS, a Writ under the hand
of ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Wellington,
and under the public Seal of the Province,
bearing date the twenty-eighth day of July,
one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, hath
been directed to me, DAVID STARK DURIE,
Esq., Returning Officer for the Wanganui and
Rangitikei Districts, requiring and command-
ing me to cause to be elected by and from
amongst the Voters duly qualified for that pur-
pose, freely and indifferently, in form and
manner by law prescribed, two persons to serve
as additional members for the "Wanganui and
Rangitikei Districts" in the Provincial Coun-
coun-
cil of the Province of Wellington :
Now, therefore, I, the said DAVID STARK
DURIE, Returning Officer for the "Wanganui
and Rangitikei Districts," do hereby, in pur-
suance of the said Writ, give notice that a
public meeting of the Electors of the "Wan-
ganui and Rangitikei Districts" will be holden
at the Resident Magistrate's Court, at Wan-
ganui, on TUESDAY, the twenty-sixth day of
August next, at noon, for the purpose of nomi-
nating two persons to serve as additional mem-
bers for the "Wanganui and Rangitikei Dis-
tricts," in the said Council; and in the event
of a poll being demanded for the Candidates,
or any of them, such polling shall take place
at the Resident Magistrate's Court at Wan-
ganui aforesaid, and at the usual polling places
in the said Districts, on THURSDAY, the twenty-
eighth day of August next, the voting to

commence at any time after nine o'clock in the
forenoon of the said day, and to close at four
o'clock in the afternoon of the said day.
Dated at the Resident Magistrate's Court,
at Wanganui, this sixth day of August,
one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six.

Notice to Architects.

Provincial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 25th July, 1856.
THE Provincial Government of Wel-
lington hereby offer premiums of £30 and
£20 respectively for the first and second best
designs for a Building, to comprise the follow-
ing, viz. :—
Chamber for House of Representatives for
50 Members, with Reporters' and Strangers'
Gallery, and Speaker's Room.
Chamber for Legislative Council for 25
Members, a Reporters' and Strangers' Gallery,
and Speaker's Room.
A Library, and four Committee Rooms,
Coffee-Room, and Kitchen.
And Provincial Government Offices, consist-
ing of—
Superintendent's Office,
Provincial Secretary's do.
Treasurer's do.
Auditor's do.
Registrar's do.
Engineer's do.
Four Clerks' do.
Clerk Provincial Council do.
Fire-proof room for Deeds, &c.
The construction principally of wood, and
the whole of the buildings to be on one floor,
and the cost not to exceed £5000.
Plans, specifications, and estimates, to be
sent addressed to the Provincial Secretary,
Wellington, on or before 15th September,
1856.
A Plan of the site may be seen at this office.
No Plan to have the name of the architect
upon it, but only a private mark. Each party
will address a letter to the Provincial Secretary,
intimating his private mark. These letters will
not be opened until the Committee have given
their decision upon the Plans.
The accepted Plans to be the Property of
the Provincial Government, and the others to
be returned.

Notice to Builders.

Provincial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 23rd August, 1856.
TENDERS will be received at the Provin-
cial Secretary's Office, Wellington, on
Monday, 1st September, 1856, at noon, for the
Building an Addition to the Asylum at
Karori.
The Plan and Specification may be seen at
the Provincial Secretary's Office.
