Notice.
Province of Wellington,
To-Wit.
WHEREAS, a Writ under the hand of ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, and under the public Seal of the Province, bearing date the fifteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, was directed to me, HENRY ST. HILL, Esq., Returning Officer for the "Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay Districts," requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected, by and from amongst the Voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one person to serve as a Member for the "Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay Districts," in the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington, in the place of Francis Dillon Bell, late a member for the said Districts in the said Council, who had resigned his seat in the said Council.
And Whereas, I, the said HENRY ST. HILL, Returning Officer for the said Districts, did on the twenty-fourth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, make a return to the said Writ in the following words, namely :--"I hereby declare that at the chief polling place for the 'Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay Districts,' on the day of nomination fixed by me--that is to say, on the 17th day of March, instant, no Candidate offered himself, or was proposed by any Elector of the said Districts, to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council of the within named Province, for the said Districts, in the place of the within named Francis Dillon Bell, who has resigned his seat in the said Council; and that this Writ has not been duly executed."
And Whereas, a Writ under the hand of the said ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Esq., Superintendent of the said Province, and under the public Seal of the said Province, bearing date the twenty-eighth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, hath been directed to me, HENRY ST. HILL, Esq., Returning Officer for the said Districts, requiring and commanding me on account of the said recited Writ of the fifteenth day of February, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, not having been duly executed, to cause to be elected by and from amongst the Voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one person to serve as a Member for the "Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay Districts," in the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington, in the place of the said Francis
