NOTICE
Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington. — Election of one Member for the City of Wellington.
WHEREAS a Writ under the Hand of Isaac Earl Featherston, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, and under the Public Seal of the said Province, bearing date the seventeenth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five, directed to me, Henry St. Hill, Esq., as Returning Officer for the City of Wellington, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by, and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one person to serve as a member of the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington, for the City of
Wellington, in the place of John Wallace, who has accepted an office of emolument under the Superintendent of the said Province.
Now, THEREFORE, I, the said Henry St. Hill, Esq., Resident Magistrate and Returning Officer for the City of Wellington aforesaid, do hereby, in pursuance of the said Writ, give notice that a Public meeting of the Electors of the City of Wellington aforesaid, will be holden at the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Wellington aforesaid, on Thursday, the eleventh day of October next, at twelve o’clock in the forenoon, for the purpose of nominating one person to serve as a member of the said Council for the City of Wellington aforesaid, in the place of John Wallace, and in the event of a Poll being demanded for the Candidates, or any of them, such polling shall take place at the said Resident Magistrate’s Court.
