PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance enacted by the Governor of New Zealand, by and with the advice of the Legislative Council thereof, Session 2, Number 17, intituled "An Ordinance for imposing a tax upon Raupo Houses," it is provided that it shall be lawful for His Excellency the Governor from time to time by Proclamation to declare the provisions thereinafter contained "to be in force in any town or part of any town, the boundaries whereof respectively shall be defined by such Proclamation."

And further, that on a day to be named in such Proclamation not being less than six calendar months from the date thereof, there shall be levied in respect of any building constructed wholly or in part of Raupo, Nikau, Toi-toi, Kakaho, Straw, or Thatch of any description, and situated within the boundaries so defined, the sum of Twenty pounds.

And whereas, in virtue of a certain Ordinance of the Legislative Council of the late Province of New Munster, Session 1, Number 5, and of a certain act of the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington, Session 1, Number 4, the authority to proclaim the Ordinance for raising a tax upon raupo houses hereinbefore recited or referred to is now vested in me as Superintendent of the Province of Wellington.

Now therefore, I, the said ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON, Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, by virtue of the authority in me vested in this behalf, do hereby Proclaim and declare that the said Ordinance of the Legislative Council of New Zealand, Session 2, Number 17, intituled "An Ordinance for imposing a tax upon Raupo Houses," shall be in force within the Town of Wanganui, in the Province of Wellington, from and after the first day of December next.

And I do hereby, also proclaim and declare that the limits of the said town of Wanganui shall be such as are described and delineated in the Government plan of the said town.

And I hereby further proclaim and declare that the provisions of the aforesaid Ordinance for imposing a Tax upon Raupo Houses shall be in force within the said Town of Wanganui from and after the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-five.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Wellington, at Wellington in the said Province, this Thirtieth day of October, One thousand Eight hundred and Fifty-four.
