PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor Isaac Earl Featherston, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Wellington.

WHEREAS by an Act passed by the Provincial Council of the Province of Wellington, Session I, No. 21, entitled "An Act for the making, maintaining, repairing, and management of Country Roads within the Province of Wellington." It is amongst other things enacted that "the Superintendent of the Province of Wellington, shall from time to time, as he shall deem fit, by Proclamation, declare the Districts within which rates upon land shall be levied, for the making, maintenance, repair, and improvement of the Highways then and thereafter to be made therein, and the Boundaries of such Districts."

Now therefore I, Isaac Earl Featherston, the Superintendent of the said Province of Wellington, in virtue of the Power and Authority in me vested in this behalf Do hereby Proclaim and declare that the following Sections of land, namely,

Numbers, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11, of the Harbour District.

Numbers, 4, 6 and 8, of the Kaiwarra-Warra District, and

Sections, Numbers, 1 to 62, sixty-two, both inclusive, and No. 108, of the Porirua District and Kinapora division, shall form and constitute a District within which rates upon land shall be levied for the making, maintenance, repair, and improvement of the Highways, now and hereafter to be made therein, and for other the purposes of the before mentioned Act.

And I Do hereby further Proclaim and declare that such of the before mentioned Sections, or such parts of any thereof, as may have been Granted or Reserved to, or for the benefit of any Aboriginal Natives as Tribal, or Individual, shall be exempt from the imposition of any rate to be made and levied under the Authority of the said Act.

ISAAC EARL FEATHERSTON,
Superintendent of the Province of Wellington,

Do hereby, by and with the advice and consent of my Executive Council, Declare and Proclaim, that such part of the reserve adjoining the Town of Wellington, commonly known as the Town Belt, as lies between the Harbour, towards the North, Evans’ Bay District, towards the East, the Town of Wellington towards the West, and a line in continuation of the Northern side of Mein Street, in the said Town, towards the South, shall be a Quarantine ground for the purposes of the Act of the Provincial Council of the said Province, Session I, No. 20, intituled "An Act to repeal an Act of the Legislative Council of New Munster, Session I, No. 4, and to make other provision to prevent the extension of the disease called the Scab and the Catarrh among sheep."

WHEREAS a Writ under the Hand and Seal of Isaac Earl Featherston, Esq., Superintendent of the said Province, bearing date the sixth day of June, One thousand eight hundred and fifty-four, hath been directed to me, William Hickson, Esq., Acting Returning Officer for the City of Wellington, in the said Province, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and from amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one person to serve as a Member for the City of Wellington aforesaid, in the Provincial Council of the said Province, in the place of Kenneth Bethune, Esq., late a Member for...
