TARANAKI GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and the Provincial Council of Taranaki, intituled "The Town Boards of Taranaki Ordinance, 1872," it is enacted by Clause 2 of the said recited Ordinance that—"It shall be lawful for the Superintendent with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council on the receipt of a petition signed by not less than one-half of the householders resident within any such Town praying that the administration of such Town shall be managed by a Town Board to declare such Town subject to the provisions of the Ordinances recited in the Schedule hereto in a proclamation in the Government Gazette of the Province and the Superintendent shall define the limits and boundaries of such Town and such limits and boundaries at any time thereafter in the same manner may vary and alter."

And whereas in terms of the said recited clause, a petition bearing thirty-seven signatures of residents in the Town of Carlyle, Patea District, praying that the administration of such Town shall be managed by a Town Board, was presented to the Provincial Council on the 27th day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four; and whereas by a unanimous resolution of the said Provincial Council, passed on the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four, the prayer of the said petition was complied with.

And whereas in terms of a resolution of the said Provincial Council of Taranaki, bearing date the 8th day of May, 1872, the boundaries of the said Town of Carlyle were set forth in the following Proclamation of his Honor the Superintendent, in the Government Gazette, No. 24, 7th December, 1872:—

"Whereas by resolution of the Provincial Council of Taranaki, bearing date the 8th day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-two, it was resolved—

"That that portion of the Patea District known as the Town of Carlyle, situated on the West Bank of the Patea River, in the Province of Taranaki, bounded towards the North by Stafford and Durham Streets, towards the East by the Patea River, towards the South by Essex-street, towards the South-west by Taranaki Road, and towards the West by Devon-street, be proclaimed a Town within the meaning of the several Ordinances of this Province."

Now therefore I, Frederic Alonzo Carrington, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council, do hereby proclaim that the said Town of Carlyle shall be subject to the provisions of the Ordinances recited in the Schedule hereto.

"Municipal Police Ordinance, 1862;" "Town Board of New Plymouth Ordinance, 1863;" "Town of New Plymouth Public Works Ordinance, 1864;" "Town of New Plymouth Public Works Extension Ordinance, 1872."

Given under my hand at New Plymouth aforesaid, this eleventh day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

PROCLAMATION.

I, FREDERIC ALONZO CARRINGTON, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki, by virtue of the powers in me vested by the "Protection of Animals Act, 1873," do hereby proclaim and declare that PHEASANTS shall be open to be hunted, shot, taken, or killed within the Province of Taranaki, from the 15th June to the 31st July in the present year.

Given under my hand and Seal at New Plymouth this first day of May one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.
