NOTICE

Appointing Places for the Exposure of Cattle intended for Slaughter.

Superintendent’s Office,
New Plymouth, November 29, 1866.

In exercise of the authority vested in the Superintendent by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of Taranaki, intituled “The Slaughtering of Cattle Ordinance, 1864,” I, Henry Robert Richmond, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki, do hereby notify that the following places are appointed as places for the exposure of Cattle intended for slaughter under the said Ordinance:—

  • The Stockyard recently erected near the old Stockyard on the land of Mr. T. King, Mangorei.
  • The Stockyard on the land of Mr. J. T. Upjohn, Upper Mangorei, formerly W. Cowling’s.
  • The Stockyard on the land of Mr. Geo. Oliver, Upper Mangorei.

SCOTCH THISTLE ORDINANCE, 1863.

NOTICE

Provincial Secretary’s Office,
New Plymouth, November 29, 1866.

IT is hereby notified that the Superintendent has authorised James Hunter, and John Burns to serve and issue notices as provided by the 3rd and 4th sections of the “Scotch Thistle Ordinance, 1863.”

SIGNALS AT MOUNT ELIOT AS TO THE CLOSING OF MAILS.

IT is hereby notified for general information that henceforward a white flag will be hoisted at the flagstaff, Mount Eliot, on ordinary occasions, one hour before the closing of Mails to be despatched by steamers from this port. When, from bad weather or other causes, it is necessary to close the Mail sooner than was anticipated, the same flag will be hoisted half-mast high, and will be kept there until the Mail is closed.

The flag half-mast high will therefore mean that the Mail closes almost immediately.
