of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, an Ordinance was passed intituled "An Ordinance to alter the specific purpose for which certain Public Reserves are held in the Town of New Plymouth, and to authorize the Superintendent to borrow money on the same," and whereas the said Ordinance was, on the twentieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, presented to Henry Robert Richmond, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province, for the assent of His Excellency the Governor, and was then reserved by him for the signification of His Excellency's pleasure thereon. And whereas His Excellency has been pleased to assent to the said Ordinance: Now therefore I, Thomas Kelly, Esquire, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki, do hereby proclaim that His Excellency Sir George Grey, the Governor of New Zealand, has assented to the said Ordinance, and that I received the signification of His Excellency's assent on the fourteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.

Given under my hand at New Plymouth, this fifteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.

For the supply of flour and bread to destitute persons—

" 2d. " bread.

For constructing cottage at Waitara—
Grover Moult, £90.

For removing building, Mount Eliot—
Bull and Bond, £13.

Compensation Court,
New Plymouth, July 6, 1866.

Notice is hereby given that a sitting of the Compensation Court will be held at New Plymouth on the 20th day of September next, for the purpose of hearing and determining the claims of persons to compensation, on account of the taking, under the authority of the "New Zealand Settlements Act, 1863," of the block of land in the Province of Taranaki hereinafter described:—

Ngatiawa Coast.

Bounded on the west and north-west by a line drawn straight from the summit of Mount Egmont to the source of the river Waiongana, thence along the said river Waiongana to Tarurutangi, thence straight to the junction of the rivers Manganui and Waitara, thence along the said river Waitara to the sea, thence along the sea coast to the tunnel at Parininihi; on the north by a straight line in a direction due east (true bearing) from the said tunnel at Parininihi for a distance of twenty miles; on the south-east by a straight line drawn from the eastern extremity of the said northern boundary in a direction south 39 degrees west till it intersects the straight line between the summit of Mount Egmont and Parikino on the Wanganui river; and on the south-west by the said straight line last named from its intersection with the said south-eastern boundary to the summit of Mount Egmont.
