PROCLAMATION

Enforcing Boundaries under "Thatch and Straw Building Ordinance, 1858."

By THOMAS KELLY, Esquire, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of New Plymouth, intituled the "Thatch and Straw Building Ordinance, 1858," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent from time to time by Proclamation in the Government Gazette of the Province, to declare the provisions of the said Ordinance to be in force in any Town, or part of any Town within the said Province; the boundaries whereof respectively shall be defined by such Proclamation: And whereas by Proclamation of George Cutfield, Esquire, Superintendent of the said Province, dated the 9th day of December, 1858, certain boundaries in the Town of New Plymouth were defined, within which the provisions of the said recited Ordinance were proclaimed to be in force: And whereas it is expedient to enlarge such boundaries;

Now, therefore, I, Thomas Kelly, Esquire, Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki, do hereby proclaim and declare the provisions of the said Ordinance to be in force from and after the date hereof within such additional parts of the Town of New Plymouth as are comprised in the Schedules hereunto numbered A, B, and C, respectively, and that on the 15th day of February, 1867, and on the same day in every succeeding year, there shall be levied in respect of every house, building, shed, stable, or any description whatever constructed, or composed wholly or in part of raupo, nikau, toe-toe, wiwi, kakaho, straw, hay, thatch, or other like inflammable materials situate within the boundaries described in the said Schedules, the sum of Β£20, and also that if any person shall erect or cause to be erected any building or structure of the descriptions aforesaid, within such boundaries, he shall forfeit and pay for every such offence the sum of Β£20.

SCHEDULE B.

The Town Allotments and Land bounded towards the north by Leach-street, towards the east by Liardet-street, towards the south by Lemon-street, and towards the west by Marsland Hill Reserve.

SCHEDULE C.

The Episcopalian Church Reserve, Vivian-street.
