MILITIA AND VOLUNTEERS.
Colonial Defence Office,
Wellington, 25th October, 1865.
HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the undermentioned appointments, viz.:—
In the Taranaki Militia.
Captain Matthew Jonas (Taranaki Rifle Volunteers) to be Captain. Date of Commission, 8th June, 1864.
Lieutenant Charles Everett to be Captain. Date of Commission, 18th August, 1865.
Lieutenant William Black (Taranaki Rifle Volunteers) to be Lieutenant. Date of Commission, 21st October, 1863.
Lieutenant William Free (Taranaki Rifle Volunteers) to be Lieutenant. Date of Commission, 8th June, 1864.
Ensign Matthew Carrick (Taranaki Rifle Volunteers) to be Ensign. Date of Commission, 6th July, 1864.
Ensign John Richard Lawson (Taranaki Rifle Volunteers) to be Ensign. Date of Commission, 6th February, 1865.

NOTICE.
In the Assigned Estate of John Edmund Bates, of New Plymouth, Stationer and Bookseller.
NOTICE is hereby given that by deed dated the thirtieth day of October, 1865, made between John Edmund Bates, of New Plymouth, in the Province of Taranaki and Colony of New Zealand, Stationer and Bookseller, of the first part; Francis Ullathorn Gledhill, also of New Plymouth, Merchant, Henry John Honeyfield, also of New Plymouth, Draper, and Edward James Cudd, also of New Plymouth Furniture Dealer, creditors of the said John Edmund Bates, named and appointed for the benefit of the creditors of the said John Edmund Bates, of the second part; and the several persons, creditors of the said John Edmund Bates, whose names are thereunto subscribed, of the third part; the said John Edmund Bates did assign all his estate and effects unto the said Francis Ullathorn Gledhill, Henry John Honeyfield, and Edward James Cudd, in trust for themselves and the other creditors of the said John Edmund Bates.
Notice is further given that the abovementioned deed lies at the office of the undersigned, at New Plymouth, for signature by the creditors of the said John Edmund Bates, and it is provided by the said deed that such of the creditors of the said John Edmund Bates as shall not execute the same within three months from the date thereof will be excluded from all benefit and advantage under the assignment.

NOTICE is hereby given that by deed dated the 15th day of November, 1865, made between John Wilkinson, of New Plymouth, in the Province of Taranaki and colony of New Zealand, Brewer, of the first part, Charles Brown, of New Plymouth aforesaid, Merchant, and Frederick Lewis Webster and William Dawson Webster, trading as “Webster Brothers,” of New Plymouth aforesaid, Merchants, creditors of the said John Wilkinson, named and appointed for the benefit of the creditors of the said John Wilkinson, of the second part, and the several creditors of the said John Wilkinson whose names are thereunto subscribed, of the third part, the said John Wilkinson did assign all his estate and effects unto the said Charles Brown and Frederick Lewis Webster and William Dawson Webster, in trust for themselves and the other creditors of the said John Wilkinson.
