NEW ROADS.

Superintendent's Office,
New Plymouth, 16 June, 1857.

NOTICE is hereby given that the following lines of Road specified in a Notice of the Superintendent dated the 3rd day of October 1855 are now open for Public use :—

  1. Frankley Road—Commencing at No. 22 section, Fitz Roy district and running through Nos. 31, 30, 44, 43, and 42 Fitz Roy district, and Nos. 56, 68, and 67 Grey district.

  2. Veale Road—commencing at No. 57 section, Grey district, and running through Nos. 70, 69, 482, 483, and 495, Grey district.

PROCLAMATION.

By GEORGE CUTFIELD, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of New Plymouth.

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers vested in me by an Act of the General Assembly, intituled "The Local Posts Act, 1856," I do hereby proclaim and declare, that the rates of postage to be charged upon all Letters and Newspapers which shall be transmitted by any Local Post established within the Province of New Plymouth under the provisions of the said act, shall be as follows, and that the postage shall in every case be prepaid by postage stamps.

Letters not exceeding in weight one half of an oz. 0 1
Letters exceeding one half an ounce and not exceeding one oz. 0 2
For every additional ounce or fractional part thereof 0 2
Newspapers Free

Given under my hand at New Plymouth, this thirteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven.

NOTICE.

LOCAL POST OFFICES.

ON and after the 1st July next the Omata and Bell Block mails will arrive at this Office at noon on every Wednesday and Saturday.

The Mails to Omata and Bell Block will be despatched from this Office at 2 p.m. on every Wednesday and Saturday.

The rates of postage on all letters posted at any Local Post Office and delivered within the Province, as also letters posted at this Office and delivered at any Local Post Office within the Province will be as follows :—

Not exceeding ½ oz............................1d.
Exceeding ½ oz. & not exceeding 1 oz. 2d.
Exceeding 1 oz. & not exceeding 2 ozs. 4d.
Exceeding 2 ozs. & not exceeding 3 ozs. 6d.
And so on, 2d. for every additional frac-
