, the undersigned, do hereby certify that I have filled in the above Return, and that it is correct to the best of my knowledge and belief.

DIRECTIONS FOR FILLING UP THIS RETURN PAPER.

1.—Describe Dwelling-house and any other Buildings in occupation such as Barn, Store, Mill, Brewery, School-house, or other Building, or premises devoted to Agricultural, Manufacturing, Commercial, or Educational purposes, and state whether constructed of Stone, Sawn Timber, Iron, or of what other material.

2.—The Christian Names and Surnames of the Persons who passed the night of the 30th of June in the house must be written at length. If more than one family in the same house, a line must be drawn after each family.

3.—M for male, F for female.

4.—H for husband, W for wife, S for son, D for daughter, Wid. for widower or widow, Ser. for servant, L for lodger, V for visitor.

6.—State whether English, Scotch, Irish, Welsh, or of what other Race.

7.—The principal occupation only is to be stated, as Farmer, Merchant, Storekeeper, Lawyer, Carpenter, Labourer, &c., &c., as the case may be. If without regular occupation, enter the word "none."

8.—The word "Birth" is to be entered in this column opposite the names of persons born in the Colony.

9, 10, 11.—The initials of the person to whom the entry relates must be entered opposite the name in the proper columns.

12, 13, 14, 15, 16.—The entries must refer only to the Land attached to the house where the Return is filled in, and to the Stock, Crops, &c., on such Land. Property attached to another house will appear in a separate return to be made in respect of such house ; but if the householder occupies any property to which no house is attached (and which therefore would not be the subject of a separate return) he must apply to the Collector for an additional Return paper and enter therein the particulars of such property. Returns in respect of Leaseholds are to be made by the tenant and not by the landlord. Cattle depastured on the land of other persons than the owners are to be returned by the persons having charge of the cattle and not by the owners.

To be signed by the master of the house, or, if filled up by the Collector, then by the Collector.

NOTICE.—By the 7th section of the Provincial Census Ordinance it is enacted that "Every Householder who shall wilfully refuse, or without lawful excuse, neglect to fill
