NOTICE.
Election of one Member of the Provincial Council of the Province of New Plymouth.
Province of New Plymouth, } to wit.
WHEREAS a Writ under the hand of Charles Brown, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of New Plymouth, bearing date the thirtieth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and fifty six, hath been directed to me, Josiah Flight, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Province of New Plymouth, requiring and commanding me to cause to be elected by and amongst the voters duly qualified for that purpose, freely and indifferently, and in manner and form by law prescribed, one person to serve as a Member for the Provincial Council of the Province of New Plymouth, for the district called and known by the name of the Town of New Plymouth, in the place of Samuel Vickers, Esquire, late a member of the said Council for the said district, who has resigned his seat in the said Council.
Now, therefore, I, the said Josiah Flight, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Province of New Plymouth, aforesaid, do hereby, in pursuance of the said Writ, give notice that a Public Meeting of the Electors of the district of the Town of New Plymouth, aforesaid, will be holden at the Court House, in the Town of New Plymouth, aforesaid, on Monday, the fourteenth day of July next, at Noon, for the purpose of nominating one person to serve as a Member in the said Council for the District of the Town of New Plymouth, aforesaid, in the place of the said Samuel Vickers; and in the event of a Poll being demanded for the candidates or any of them, such polling shall take place at the Court House, aforesaid, on Tuesday the fifteenth day of July next, the voting to commence at any time after nine o'clock in the forenoon of the said day and to close at four o'clock in the afternoon of the said day.
Dated at the Resident Magistrate's Office, at New Plymouth, this twentieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and fifty six.

NOTICE.
IN exercise of the power in me vested for this purpose by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of New Plymouth, passed in the second session of the said Council, intituled "An Ordinance for taking an annual Census of the Province of New Plymouth" I hereby appoint that the Return Papers for the purposes of the said Ordinance shall be in the form annexed.
This Notice is published with the approval of the Provincial Council.
