AN ORDINANCE

TO PROVIDE FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF PUBLIC WORKS WITHIN THE PROVINCE OF NEW PLYMOUTH.

Analysis.
Title. 10. Voting at General Meetings.
Preamble. 11. Every person claiming to vote at General Meetings to be admitted subject to appeal.
1. Public Roads and Works Ordinance (Legislative Council, Session 5, No. 6) repealed. 12. Penalty on persons voting without qualification.
2. Superintendent to appoint districts for purposes of this Ordinance. 13. General Meetings empowered to impose Rates: Mode of rating in Rural districts and in the Town.
3. Town of New Plymouth to be a separate district. 14. General Meetings to elect Boards of Commissioners.
4. Roads, &c., within districts to be under management of Boards of Commissioners elected by General Meetings of Occupiers. 15. Term of office of Commissioners.
5. Qualification of Voters at General Meetings for Rural districts. 16. Vacancies in Board during term of office of Commissioners how to be supplied.
6. Qualification of Voters at General Meetings for Town district. 17. Chairman at General Meetings to certify to Superintendent as to rates made, and Commissioners elected thereat.
7. Time of General Meetings. 18. Superintendent to decide as to validity of all proceedings at General Meetings, &c.
8. Quorum at General Meetings. 19. If proceedings at General Meeting declared in-
