NOTICE.

Province of New Plymouth,
to wit.

WHEREAS Thomas Good, Esquire,
by writing under his hand, ad-
dressed to His Honor the Superintendent
of New Plymouth, in the colony of New
Zealand, and bearing date the sixteenth day
of this present month of November, One
Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty-three
has resigned his seat in the Provincial
Council of the Province of New Plymouth
aforesaid: And whereas a Writ, under the
hand of Charles Brown, Esquire, Superin-
tendent of the Province of New Plymouth
aforesaid, bearing date the twenty-third day
of this said present month of November,
hath been directed to me, Josiah Flight,
Esquire, Resident Magistrate, as Returning
Officer for the Omata District, requiring
and commanding me to cause to be elected,
by the voters duly qualified for that pur-
pose, freely and indifferently, and in man-
ner and form by law prescribed, a Person
duly qualified for that purpose, to serve as
a Member of the said Council for the
Omata District, during the remainder of the
term of the continuance of this present
Provincial Council of the said Province
now assemb'ed. Now, therefore, I, the said
Josiah Flight, Esquire, Resident Magis-
trate, Returning Officer for the Omata Dis-
trict, do hereby, in pursuance of the said
recited Writ, give notice that a Public
Meeting of the Electors of the Omata Dis-
trict will be holden at the Court House in
New Plymouth, on Friday the sixteenth
day of December next, at noon, for the
purpose of nominating a Person to serve as
a Member of the Provincial Council for the
Omata District, and in the event of a Poll
being demanded for the Candidates, or any
of them, such polling shall take place on
the following day, the seventeenth of De-
cember next, at such Court House afore-
said, the voting to commence at any time
after nine o'clock of the said day, and to
close at four o'clock of the afternoon of the
same day.
