Winton, 13th July, 1869.

SIR,—In accordance with the requirements of the 16th Section of the “Roads Ordinance, 1862,” I do myself the honor to state that at a meeting of the ratepayers of the Gap Road District, held on the 12th inst., at Mr Robinson’s, section 52, block II, Winton Hundred, the gentlemen whose names are subjoined, were duly elected trustees for said district.

GAP ROAD DISTRICT.

NOTICE is hereby given that a rate of twopence per acre is leviable on all lands in the above district, payable to Mr Kerr, Treasurer, to the Board, at his residence, section 21, Block III., Winton or the Bank of New Zealand, Invercargill, on or before October 1st, 1869.

EXTRACT from the BYE-LAWS passed by the Wardens of the JACOB’S RIVER HUNDREDS, and assented to by the Waste Land Board:—

XIV. Any person about to bring cattle on the run shall, one week before so doing, furnish to the nearest Warden notice in writing, with such information as shall give opportunity for inspection of the cattle.

XV. All or any of the acts authorised by these bye-laws may be done by any of the Wardens, or any Ranger or other person duly appointed by them, or authorised in that behalf.

PROCLAMATION.

By the Honorable JOHN PARKIN TAYLOR,
Superintendent of the Province of Southland.

WHEREAS by an act of the General Assembly of New Zealand the short title whereof is “The Superintendent’s Deputy Act, 1866,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any province by proclamation to be published in the “Government Gazette” of such province to appoint such person as he may think fit, being an inhabitant of such province, and being registered as an elector on the electoral roll of some electoral district within such province to be his Deputy, and as such to perform and exercise all the acts, powers, and authorities (except as in the seventh clause of the said act is excepted) which may be done, performed, or exercised by such Superintendent, and that it shall be lawful for any Superintendent at any time and from time to time by proclamation published in the “Government Gazette” of the province to remove any person appointed by him or by his predecessor in office to be Deputy-Superintendent of his province, and whereas on the twenty-third day of July, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight, in pursuance and in exercise
