THE undermentioned occupiers of land have been licensed to depasture cattle within the New River Hundred for the current year.

1st. That no person shall depasture any stock in the district except he be the holder of a Depasturing License issued by the Gold Fields Warden.
2nd. A Depasturing License shall only be issued to the holder of a Miner’s Right or Business License.
3rd. That all persons depasturing stock in the district, shall during the last week in March in each year send in to the Gold Fields Warden a return of the number and description of stock including all over three months old, and that any person placing stock in the district after the 31st of March in each year shall within one week send a return of the same to the Warden.
4th. That an assessment of three shillings per head on large cattle, and sixpence per head on small cattle shall be paid to the Warden on the 1st of April in each year, and in case of stock becoming liable to assessment after the 1st April, on any day within one week after their arrival and depasturing within the district. Provided that any holder of a Miner’s Right or Business License shall be entitled to depasture one head of large stock free of assessment.
5th. That no greater number of stock than at the rate of one head of large cattle to ten acres shall be depastured in the district.
6th. That in case of the number of cattle in applications to depasture being in excess of the number allowed in the foregoing (5th) regulation, the Warden shall decide on the number to be depastured by each applicant.

LIGHT AT JACOB’S RIVER, FOVEAUX STRAIT.
NOTICE TO BOATMEN FREQUENTING THE PORT OR RIVERTON.
On and after the 1st day of March, next, a Red Light will be shown on the South Head, near the Flagstaff, from sunset till sunrise. This light will show the position of the South Head, but it is not intended as a guide for clearing the sandspit lying off it.

THE following Bill, passed by the Provincial Council of the Province of Southland, intituled—
“The Sheep Ordinance 1866 Amendment Ordinance 1867 Amendment 1868,”
which Bill was reserved for the signification of the Governor’s pleasure thereon, having been laid before the Governor, His Excellency has been pleased to assent to the same.
