PROCLAMATION

Superintendent of the Province of Southland.
WHEREAS, by the 9th section of the “Education Ordinance, 1867,” of the Provincial Council of the Province of Southland it is enacted that the Superintendent may, upon the recommendation of the Education Board, proclaim new districts, and from time to time subdivide or alter the boundaries of Educational Districts.
And whereas the Education Board has recommended me to proclaim the districts hereinafter described; now, therefore, I, the said Superintendent, in pursuance of the power in me vested in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the districts named in the Schedule hereunder written, and whose boundaries are therein set forth, shall be Educational Districts under the said in part recited Ordinance; and I do hereby further declare that the provisions of the said Ordinance shall come into operation in the said districts from and after the first day of August, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.
Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Southland, this sixth day of July, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.

WALLACETOWN EDUCATION DISTRICT
Bounded on the north by the northern boundary of Sections 3, Block XIV., 9 and 10, Block I., and part of the northern boundary of Block II., New River Hundred; on the east by the old North Road; on the south by part of the northern boundary of the Waikiwi Education District; again on the east by part of western boundary of the Waikiwi Education District aforesaid; again on the south by the northern boundary of Sections 38 to 43, Block XIV., Invercargill Hundred, and the Makarewa River to its confluence with the Oreti; and on the west by the Oreti River.

I hereby give notice that it is the intention of the Government to bring in a bill at the next session of the Provincial Council entitled the “Roads Diversion Ordinance, 1868,” affecting the sections in the Schedule hereto annexed, and that plans of the Road Diversions can be seen at the Chief Surveyor’s Office, on and after the 1st day of July, 1868.

Waianiwa Road--

Sections No. 16, 17, Block XVI., New River Hundred (Mrs W. Lawson).
Sections No. 2, Block V., Reserve, New River Hundred (Mr L. Fraser).
Section No. 8, Block V., New River Hundred (Reserve).
MORTON MAINS EDUCATION DISTRICT.
Bounded on the north by Block LIX., Mabel district; on the E., N., and W. by the township of Dacre; and again on the north by Block III. and XXXVIII., Lothian Hundred; on the east by Block LXII. and LXIV; on the south by part of the northern boundary of the Oteramika district; again on the east by the eastern boundary of Section 1, Block XI., Oteramika Hundred; again on the south by Section 6 of Block XI. aforesaid; and again on the east by the western boundary of said Section 6 of Block XI.; again on the south by the southern boundary of Block VIII., Oteramika Hundred; and on the west by part of the east boundary of the One-Tree Point and Mona Education districts.
