Hundreds Proclamation




There shall be within the Province of
Southland in the said Colony, the several
Hundreds bounded by the limits and
known by the names or designations
hereunder written, that is to say —

FOREST HILL HUNDRED.

That portion of the Province of
Southland, bounded on the North by a
due east and west line (true bearing) in
transit with Trig. Station V., on Woody
Knoll; on the East by a due north and
south line (true bearing) in transit with
the western boundary of Block No. 1,
Lindhurst Hundred; on the South by
the Makarewa, Hedgehope, and Titipua
Rivers; on the West by the New River
and Winton Hundred.

LINDHURST HUNDRED.

That portion of the said Province
bounded on the North by the northern
boundary of Block No. 1, and 1 of 148
Lindhurst Hundred, and by the northern
boundary of Block No. 3 on the same Hun
dred, and a due east and west line (true
bearing) extending in transit with the
northern boundary of the last mentioned
block to the Mataura River; on the East
by the eastern boundary of Block No. 1
of 148, and the Mataura River; on the
South by the Mataura and Lothian
Hundreds; on the West by part of the
Forest Hill Hundred.

WAIMUMU HUNDRED.

That portion of the said Province
bounded on the North by a due east and
west line (true bearing) in transit with
Trig. Station V., on Woody Knoll; on
the North-east by part of the Waimumu
Creek, and by a line bearing 117° 48'
30" (on the true meridian), being part of
the north-eastern boundary of Section
No. 4, Waimumu Hundred, and by the
Charing Creek; on the South-west by
the Mataura River; on the South by the
Lindhurst Hundred; on the West by the
eastern boundary of Block No. 1 of 148
Lindhurst Hundred, and by part of the
eastern boundary of Forest Hill
Hundred.

CAMPBELLTOWN HUNDRED.

That portion of the Province of
Southland bounded on the North by a
line running due east and west (true
bearing), in transit with the south point
of the New River; on the South and
South-west by the ocean; on the North-
west by the New River Estuary.

INVERCARGILL HUNDRED.

That portion of the said Province
bounded on the North by the Makarewa
River; on the South by a line running
due east and west (true bearing) in
transit with the south point of the New
River, till it cuts the western boundary
of the Oteramika Hundred; on the
West by the Makarewa and the New
River; on the North-east by a line
bearing 140° 15' 00" (on the true
meridian) from the Makarewa to the
north-west corner of Section 12, Block
VI, Invercargill Hundred; thence by a
line running due south (true bearing) to
Section No. 26, Block 8, Oteramika
Hundred; thence by a line bearing 216°
00' 00" (on the true meridian) till it
cuts the south boundary aforesaid.

NEW RIVER HUNDRED.

That portion of the said Province
bounded on the North by a line running
due east and west (true bearings), in
transit with the top of Forest Hill to the
Waimatuku Stream; on the South and
South-west by the New River Estuary
and the ocean; on the East by a line
running due south (true bearing), from
Forest Hill to the Makarewa; and on
the South-east and East by the Makarewa
and New River; on the West by the
Waimatuku Stream.

JACOB'S RIVER HUNDRED.

That portion of the said Province
bounded on the North by the northern
boundary of Block VIII., Jacob's River
Hundred, and a line running due west
(true bearing) in continuation thereof;
on the North-east by a stream running
into the Aparima River to the north-
ward of the Yellow Bluff; on the East-
ward and part North by the Waimatuku
Moss, and thence by the Waimatuku
Stream to the ocean; on the West by a
line running due north and south (true
bearing) in transit with the top of Fern-
dunlaw; and on the South-west by the
Aparima River, from the northern
boundary of Block VIII. to the stream
to the northward of the Yellow Bluff.

OTERAMIKA HUNDRED.

That portion of the said Province
bounded on the North by a line running
due east and west (true bearing), from
