THE subjoined Bye-laws passed by the
Wardens of the New River Hun-
dred have received the sanction of the
Waste Land Board.

  1. That no cattle of any description be
    depastured on the New River Hundreds
    without license. Provided always that
    working bullocks and horses of bond fide
    travellers when on their journey, if
    turned out to graze be not considered
    trespassers if not left longer than two
    nights in one place.

  2. That all sheep depastured on the
    New River Hundred be registered.

  3. That no entire horse or bull be de-
    pastured on the Hundred without special
    written permission of the Wardens.

  4. That all license holders do register
    their brands, or the brands on and de-
    scription of their cattle and horses, be-
    tween 1st and 31st October, 1863, with the Warden
    living nearest.

  5. That all owners of cattle on the
    Hundred do give notice to the nearest
    Warden before removing any cattle from
    off the Hundred.

  6. That all cattle brought on the
    Hundred be reported to the nearest
    Warden within forty-eight hours after
    arriving on the Hundred.

  7. That the penalty for any breach of
    the foregoing bye-laws, be any sum not
    exceeding Five Pounds sterling to be re-
    covered in a summary way, according to
    the 10th Division of the 67th Clause of
    the Land Regulations.

  8. That all stray cattle be impounded.

The foregoing bye-laws shall only
apply to that portion of the New River
Hundred lying north of the junction of
the Oreti and Makarewa Rivers.
